Twisted Metal 2

Twisted Metal 2 is really a lot of fun. It has a few quirks, but if you're looking for a fast paced game with plenty of action, explosions, and great graphics, this game is for you. Bottom Line: Wonderful graphics and sound. Fast paced action that requires some strategy to be successful. A lot of fun to play. Bad save game mechanism forces you to replay missions over and over again. Limited gameplay at the low difficulty setting.

Schade, daß Twisted Metal 2 in Deutschland nicht offiziell vertrieben wird. Den Vergleich mit Carmageddon muß es nämlich keineswegs scheuen. Im Gegenteil, mir gefällt es sogar deutlich besser: Auf fragwürdige Pseudo-Rennen wurde komplett verzichtet und statt dessen viel Wert auf ein ausgeklügeltes Waffenarsenal und abwechslungsreiche Arenen gelegt. Im Prinzip handelt es sich um einen 3D-Shooter auf Rädern, der mit seinen Blech-Protagonisten erfrischend viel Abwechslung zum üblichen Meuchel-Allerlei bietet. Nur an der unattraktiven Aschenputtel-Grafik scheitert Twisted Metals Vorstoß in höhere Wertungsregionen.

Having played the original Twisted Metal on the Playstation, it was great to see that the game could be faithfully brought over the PC in a good sequel. There is a lot of fast-paced action scattered throughout the game, making it difficult to stop playing. Unfortunately, there are some things that make Twisted Metal 2 difficult to play. This difficulty, which is directly tied to the controls, make things at times more frustrating than enjoyable. If you can ignore the few blemishes, there is a lot of excitement while playing the game. With its unique storyline and different vehicles, the replayability of this game is very much there. I for one am glad to see Sony starting to take an active role in PC game development and, with the porting over of some of the popular Playstation titles, it can only make PC gamers that much more happy!

Das Spielprinzip ist primitiv, die Grafik trotz 3D-Beschleuniger lausig und die Gegnerintelligenz fragwürdig. Trotzdem bereitet Twisted Metal 2 eine krude Form von Vergnügen.

If the 3D engine received a tune-up and the physics of Carmageddon were dropped into this engine, you'd have a pretty bloody fantastic game (in both the literal and faux-English way). Instead, we have yet another average 3D shooter.

Men vi venter da spændt og ser, om der ikke også skulle komme en "Twisted Metal 3: Nothing New"! Måske kan der blive plads til lidt mere fantasi og nytænkning? Der skal i hvert fald ikke meget til for at overgå Twisted Metal 2. En tynd kop te!
