Two Worlds war fast schon auf eine penetrante Art und Weise in den Medien vertreten, die nur noch von Call of Duty: Black Ops und Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood übertroffen wird. Eigentlich einleuchtend, musste es doch dafür sorgen, den Titel Two Worlds, nach dem gescheiterten Vorgänger, in neuem Glanz erstrahlen zu lassen. Und als wenn das nicht schon genüg wäre, tritt es auch noch in direkte Konkurrenz zum neuen Teil der Gothic-Saga, Arcania: Gothic 4. Wer unser Review dazu gelesen hat weiß aber, dass es sich bei Gothic 4, auch wenn es erstmals relativ bug-frei war, eher um einen kleinen Spaß für zwischendurch, oder hartgesottene Fans handelt. Diejenigen, die jedoch ein vollwertiges, hochgezüchtetes und vor allem gutes RPG spielen wollen, lassen lieber die Finger davon, denn dieses Jahr geht der RPG-Oscar ohne Zweifel an Two Worlds 2.

Alles in allem ist „Two Worlds II“ jetzt nicht der ganz große Wurf und es wird sich weisen, ob vor allem die bevorstehende Konkurrenz durch „Dragon Age 2“ dem Erfolg des Spiels schaden wird. Nichtsdestotrotz handelt es sich hier um ein wirklich gelungenes Rollenspiel, das mit einer spannenden Story, jeder Menge gestalterischer Freiheiten und markanten Charakteren aufzeigt. Die ansprechende Grafik und die gute deutsche Vertonung zählen zu den weiteren Pluspunkten. In puncto Story hätte ich mir ein wenig mehr Wendungen im Plot gewünscht, vor allem, da das Fantasy-Genre ein massiv verwertetes ist und man sich hier nur mehr durch eine gute Story von der Konkurrenz deutlich abheben kann.

Diesen Herbst war für uns klar, dass zwei Rollenspielgiganten aufeinandertreffen werden, nachdem ArcaniA – Gothic 4 und Two Worlds II fast zeitgleich im Handel erhältlich sind, beide mit dem Fokus auf einem intensiven Rollenspielerlebnis der Extraklasse. Während Gothic 4 allerdings eher als „Rollenspiel Light“ zu bezeichnen ist, kann TW2 hier alle Register ziehen und bietet dem Abenteurer unendlich viele Möglichkeiten sich stundenlang mit der Spielewelt und den bereit gestellten, umfangreichen Features zu beschäftigen. Abwechslungsreiche Quests, eine tolle Performance, zahlreiche MP-Modi und gut gewählte Sprecher lassen keine Zweifel aufkommen, dass Two Worlds II für die nächste Zeit von uns eindeutig die Rollenspielkrone aufgesetzt bekommt und definitiv ein Spiel zum Verlieben ist!

Als Two Worlds II angekündigt wurde, war ich aufgrund des eher schwachen Vorgängers skeptisch. Als ich es das erste Mal live und in Farbe gesehen habe, war ich positiv überrascht. Jetzt, da ich endlich das fertige Spiel spiele, bin ich begeistert. Eine riesige Spielwelt, garniert mit abwechslungsreichen Aufgaben, dazu ein sauberes Kampfsystem und sogar einige kreative Ideen, wie das flexible Magiesystem, sorgen dafür, dass Two Worlds II ganz oben in der Liga der Rollenspiele mitmischt. Natürlich ist so ein Brocken nicht fehlerfrei – speziell die KI hat ihre deutlichen Macken und die Bedienungsfreundlichkeit ist auch nicht immer optimal. Insgesamt hat Reality Pump hier ein verdammt gutes Rollenspiel abgeliefert, das mit den Großen nicht nur mithalten kann, sondern diese sogar locker übertrifft. Für mich ist Two Worlds II die größte Überraschung des Spielejahres 2010 und definitiv ein Anwärter auf das beste Rollenspiel des Jahres.

Two Worlds II supera il suo predecessore in ogni campo, ed è in grado di offrire ore e ore di divertimento a puristi dei GDR e non. Non siamo tuttavia davanti a un titolo perfetto: alcune caratteristiche non limate adeguatamente e diverse imprecisioni nel sistema di controllo impediscono a quest'opera di raggiungere l'eccellenza, per quanto rimanga uno dei migliori giochi del genere, da consigliare senza remore a chiunque. Dato che il margine di miglioramento della serie è così elevato, non rimane che aspettare con ansia l'annuncio di un terzo capitolo.

An dieser Stelle könnte ich jetzt all die kleinen Makel und Unzulänglichkeiten von Two Worlds 2 aufzählen, denn andere Rollenspiele setzen nun mal Meßlatten, die Two Worlds 2 schlicht nicht erreicht: Mass Effect 2 bei Inszenierung und Bedienung, Fallout New Vegas und Risen beim Erkundungstrieb, Dragon Age bei taktischen Kämpfen, The Witcher beim Gehalt der Story und der Konsequenz von Entscheidungen. Aber habe ich Two Worlds 2 deswegen weniger gern gespielt? Nein. Denn für mich zählen in einem Rollenspiel vor allem die Geschichte(n) und die Charakterentwicklung. Und in diesen beiden Kerndisziplinen punktet Two Worlds 2. Mit Freude erinnere ich mich an all die spannenden, skurrilen oder witzigen Aufgaben und Dialoge. Dabei hatte ich sowohl als Nahkämpfer wie auch als Magier viel Spaß. Wer Macken verzeihen kann, darf zugreifen.

So did Reality Pump manage to overcome the stigma the original Two Worlds created? Has the been franchise redeemed? In my opinion, it certainly has. Sure, Two Worlds II has plenty of room for improvement. The storyline could be a bit more interesting and the visuals need an overhaul. A morality system would be a welcomed sight in Two Worlds III. But again, the level of depth throughout and the solid combat options go a long way to offsetting those issues. It may not replace that copy of Dragon Age as your top high-fantasy RPG, but it has no problems sitting on the shelf next to it. Two Worlds II is so big, you almost need ‘two worlds’ to hold all its contents. And for RPG fans, that is what matters most.

Two Worlds II es un completísimo RPG que mejora sustancialmente al original y nos envuelve en un mundo de fantasía del que no querremos escapar. Sus atractivos e inmensos entornos, su jugabilidad directa y sencilla, así como la gran cantidad de cosas que podemos realizar en el universo de Antaloor son algunas de las grandes virtudes de una aventura que está dirigida tanto a los más veteranos del género como a los que se quieran iniciar en el mismo. El novedoso sistema de hechizos, pócimas, forjas y demás podrá confundirnos e incluso frustrarnos al principio, pero con la práctica lo acabaremos dominando a la perfección y disfrutaremos de una gran cantidad de invenciones propias. El único lastre del juego se encuentra en los frecuentes tirones y bajadas de frames del motor gráfico, así como en algunos bugs que, aun sin afectar al apartado jugable, enturbian la gran experiencia del título.

TW2 still has plenty of room to grow. You can’t fight on horseback, for instance. Many skills are unbalanced—some are of dubious utility while others, such as Alchemy, feel half-baked. The single-player story gets increasingly linear for little payoff; we still get a sizable map out of the deal, but later areas aren’t as fleshed-out since the plot isn’t compelling enough to justify limiting open-world exploration. Multi­player is improved, but is disappointingly mission-based instead of allowing co-op wandering. Yet it is such a huge improvement over its dismal predecessor that it’s oh-so-close to being an outstanding RPG. Its design just needs some rationalization and focus to achieve something great.

To finish off, TW2 was okay. It was good fun, it had its problems, but as a fan of the likes of Oblivion I enjoyed it. I’d say, try it out as an interim between Skyrim and Witcher 2. The multiplayer eventually worked well and was great fun. I didn’t have a problem with TW2, it won’t go down in history as the greatest RPG ever, but it was a good play all the same.

What I’d love to see in the coming months from Reality Pump is a renewed focus on interface and on making their complicated RPG systems more intuitive. These guys are hard at work on bringing more love to the game - they’re not all rushing off to make a sequel immediately. Thing is, I don’t think the issue with Two Worlds II right now has anything to do with a lack of content - what they should be focusing on is making that content more accessible. Still, this is a damn fun title if you’re interested in a deep action-RPG, especially if you expected very little after the wildly strange, often severely disappointing first game. And if you can get past the rough parts, it’s exciting and addictive in all the ways you probably expect out of a good European RPG.

Overall, Two Worlds II is a pretty solid game that is definitely worth your time. It’s a game that any RPG fan can appreciate, but even those who aren’t so fond of RPGs can pick it up, play it, and above all else — enjoy it. While it may not have the greatest story known to mankind, it more than makes up for it in everything else that it has to offer. From the wealth of quests and content, to online multiplayer, Two Worlds II brings it all and doesn’t either disappoint, nor does it squander its second chance.

Profondità, un multiplayer per certi versi davvero innovativo e un numero esorbitante di cose da fare, promettono di rendere i vostri pomeriggi realmente impegnati, in attesa di un nuovo Elder Scroll per dire definitivamente addio alla vostra vita sociale. Peccato unicamente per una traduzione non certo eccelsa e per alcuni problemi tecnici che sembrano affliggere in maniera costante le creature di Reality Pump; niente che comunque una buona patch non possa ovviare in tempi ragionevolmente brevi.

Let's just hope that the original Two Worlds didn't damage the series' reputation to the point that people are wary to try Two Worlds 2.

Great writing and characterizations could have taken Two Worlds II to the next level, but even without them, there is enough combat and mission variety to keep you busy and happy for dozens of hours. Two Worlds 2 does what few sequels ever do: make us forget about its predecessor. Despite the issues, enough worked to keep grinding to the next dungeon and forgive the incredibly lackluster ending. Two Worlds 2 is vermakelijk, maar niet de RPG-topper die we gehoopt hadden. De omgevingen zijn zeker mooi en het RPG-systeem werkt naar behoren, maar de andere elementen zijn matig te noemen. Zo zijn de (verdere) graphics niet indrukwekkend, zijn de gesproken teksten erg zwak en ook is het combat-systeem zeker niet perfect. De vele bugs doen daarbij echt afbreuk aan de spelervaring. We konden daarbij jammer genoeg het online element niet testen, simpelweg omdat we geen andere spelers konden vinden. Al met al is Two Worlds 2 een aardige RPG, die duidelijk afwerking mist.

Avouons-le, il est bien difficile de s'enthousiasmer pour Two Worlds II après avoir parcouru de long en large Divinity II, Fallout : New Vegas et Risen. La volonté de bien faire est manifeste, mais les écueils sont trop nombreux pour susciter une totale adhésion. A commencer par ces insupportables doublages français qui viennent franchement gâcher l'aventure ! La localisation n'est pas la seule fautive puisque le scénario, le monde à parcourir, l'IA et certaines quêtes manquent de consistance. Two Worlds II mérite en revanche notre respect en ce qui concerne la présence de véritables modes multijoueurs (clairement une exception en matière de jeux de rôle) et la bonne réalisation de certaines mécaniques de jeu.

Se resiente un poco de una interfaz muy confusa, pero al mismo tiempo goza de un aspecto visual notable y un diseño artístico y general que aunque no son la panacea sí que hacen bien su trabajo. Nos encontramos, en definitiva, ante una clara apuesta para todo seguidor del género que quiera su ración de rol mezclado con acción para PC, pero también ante un mundo ciertamente hostil para los jugadores menos avezados en el género.

As a lower budget, quirkier version of Oblivion, the game does hold its own, and were it left at that its flaws would be much more understandable, possibly even virtuous in a strange way. Everyone loves the underdog, and people love it when enthusiasm outshines quality. Unfortunately, in aiming to dethrone Oblivion, Reality Pump have shot themselves in the foot. Every little quirk in the game becomes a major flaw highlighting the fact that it just isn’t as good as Bethesda’s effort. By turns engrossing and frustrating, the game will appeal much more to those willing to look beyond the obvious flaws and those who enjoy B-movies because of their charm. For everyone else, Two Worlds II will comfortably fill the RPG gap until Dragon Age II, providing plenty of hours of saving damsels, assisting smiths and slaying interesting beasts.

Après un début d'aventure calamiteux et des limites qui sautent tout de suite aux yeux (doublages catastrophiques, effet de flou inutile, animations robotiques, etc.), Two Worlds II finit par livrer ses charmes aux joueurs les plus persévérants. Les graphismes plutôt soignés, l'exploration d'environnements différents, le multi-joueurs anecdotique mais présent, ainsi que le choix de l'approche du danger en fonction de la classe sélectionnée : tous ces facteurs permettent de prendre un réel plaisir de jeu à condition de donner sa chance au titre. Soyons clair, Two Worlds II mérite qu'on s'y intéresse, mais ses défauts et autres imperfections en désarçonneront plus d'un. Si possible, essayez le soft avant de craquer. Ne venez pas dire que l'on ne vous aura pas prévenu !

Two Worlds II réussit. Et cela que ce soit au regard du nouveau moteur de Reality Pump qui livre des paysages aussi jolis que divers, au regard de son gameplay qui fourmille de possibilités, ou encore au regard de l'ambiance assez exceptionnelle qui s'en dégage. Mais finalement Two Worlds II échoue. Et il est presque triste de voir qu'un jeu avec un tel potentiel trébuche finalement dans les ornières béantes, mais qu'il faut absolument éviter : maniabilité ratée, interface disgracieuse et inadaptée au support, quêtes annexes à l'intérêt limité et scénario convenu. En résulte un titre ambivalent qui pourra enchanter totalement son homme une trentaine de minutes et le révulser la trentaine suivante, pour l'enchanter à nouveau par la suite. Mais étrangement, on en retient principalement les bons souvenirs, et ce malgré une fin expédiée et presque révoltante.

Two Worlds II, for all its inadequacies and flaws, is still an enjoyable game. It gets by with its various magic and crafting systems, subtlety and style. While the UI and narrative of the game caused me much frustration and disappointment I would still give the game a decent recommendation. Two Worlds II is flawed but none the less an interesting game. So with that and bearing in mind that a 5/10 is an average game and not 7/10 like most other sources on the internet. I would give Two Worlds II 6/10.

We Got This Covered
All in all, Two Worlds II is definitely an improvement on its predecessor but it’s still not perfect. There are some glaring gameplay and technical issues and it’s fairly unpolished, as I ran across numerous bugs (although none were game-breaking). However if you can get past the wonky blocking, unintuitive menus and spell creation, a general lack of polish, and a few other annoying nuances, you actually have at its core a fun, enjoyable and lengthy RPG with deep customization mechanics and an absolutely huge world to explore. It’s frustrating that the game does so many things right yet is still pretty rough around its edges but I have to give it credit for improving on its predecessor. Two Worlds II definitely still has a long way to go before joining the upper echelon of Dragon Age and The Elder Scrolls but I think most RPG fans will find something they enjoy about this title if you can look past its shortcomings.

The inventive spell system and multiplayer element don’t make Two Worlds II good, unfortunately. They provide good points for brave RPG fans to find some purchase and explore the game, though. Two Worlds II has a lot of potential, but ultimately, it can’t fulfill the lofty ambitions that Reality Pump set for it and comes up shorter than it probably would have for the trouble.

Tous les éléments sont là, et pourtant la sauce ne prend jamais vraiment en solo, la faute à un univers bien trop impersonnel, des quêtes qui sont dans leur immense majorité vues et revues, des personnages tout sauf attachants, et une VF absolument catastrophique à ranger au rayon "nanars du jeu vidéo", qui ruine tous les maigres efforts faits sur l'écriture. Reste que sur le terrain du contenu le package est plutôt irréprochable, avec un contenu solo plus que décent, un mode multijoueur aussi surprenant que réussi, et un bilan technique très positif puisque Two Worlds II est à la fois beau (en ce qui concerne les décors, du moins), fluide, et stable. Two Worlds II est en quelque sorte l'élève studieux et appliqué qui a bien fait ses devoirs, mais de la part de qui il ne faut surtout pas attendre la moindre créativité ou le plus petit grain de folie. Reste le multi, qui pourrait être la seule et vraie raison d'investir dans ce RPG au solo terne et anonyme.

If the multi player was better, and didn’t sock you into a prequel style set of missions, it might be worth 30. Like it is now, My advice would be to wait for this one to hit around 25 or so. To me, that seems like a good deal as far as content and gameplay is concerned. It bothers me that game companies are really ignoring co-op gameplay. Two Worlds 2 settles for a series of missions that play in the same areas, but don’t ever address the main story, and that is a cop out in my opinion. Reality Pump has come far from the first game, but shows in this one they still have miles to go before they reach a place where the quality has reached the hype.

Je ne m’étais rarement autant ennuyé sur un jeu de rôle que sur Two Worlds 2. Et pourtant, je ne suis pas le plus exigent des joueurs. Si vous cherchez un bon RPG sur PC, lorgnez plutôt du côté de Fallout New Vegas, ou Divinity II si vous voulez absolument du médiéval-fantastique.
