Trivia

Cancelled Sequel

The developer was working on a sequel called Universal Combat: Hold the Line, but cancelled development in November 2004 to focus on the standalone add-on: Universal Combat: A World Apart.

Freeware Release

On January 2, 2008 the fully patched game without multiplayer and with fewer music tracks was released as a free download.

Name Change

In September 2003, publisher DreamCatcher changed the title from Battlecruiser Generations to Universal Combat with the following explanation:

"The game has morphed into much more than a massive space sim," and the reworked game's "action-based focus caters to a far broader audience."
