GameSpot (Feb 23, 2005)
Vendetta Online's modest production budget is sometimes unkindly evident, yet it offers a reasonably effective mix of space-based trading and multiplayer combat.
It is a pleasant relief to see a game with very little lag and plentiful updates. If you are looking for a different kind of MMORPG and don't feel like spending tons of money, give Vendetta a shot. For those of you looking to be blown away by graphics and sound you may want to pass this one up.
IGN (Jan 12, 2005)
Right now, however, VO is simply not worth the price. If you have a bunch of time and money to spare and don't want to deal with Star Wars: Galaxies, then VO may be a worthy investment. To the casual gamer though who just wants to be among a bunch of other players in the same game, almost every other MMO is recommended over this one.
Gamers' Temple, The (Feb 02, 2005)
If you really, really must play a MMORPG space sim, then you should give VO a trial run as it does deliver the very basics. Otherwise, it is hard to recommend that you spend your MMORPG time and money on this one.
Cheat Code Central (Aug 16, 2005)
Vendetta Online has everything that a game like this needs to draw players to it. It's virtually flawless, from the mechanics to the storyline. At the very least you can say that the developers prepared the most fertile soil where such an adventure could take root and flourish - for perhaps years. All it needs are the seeds.
Game Chronicles (Feb 21, 2005)
The music in this game was great; it got me into the feel of space. At first, the game seems quite promising; I had high hopes of becoming a space pirate! Unfortunately though, the game succeeds too well in creating the emptiness of space—I want to feel the emptiness of space, not feel like the game is lacking way too much content. I’d wait this one out and see what develops before buying.
Worth Playing (Mar 29, 2005)
Reviewing — and scoring — games like Vendetta is tough. As a reviewer, I’d give Vendetta a 10 for developer and community caring. Unfortunately, that’s a small portion of the product, as many players might just pick the game up and never check out the forums. Vendetta is also a niche game and has got a certain amount of anti-establishment feel to it. If you’re looking for a lot of polish here, you’re not going to find it. If you like space sims, and Star Wars Galaxies isn’t doing it for you, it’s worth at least downloading the free client and checking it out.
In Vendetta, traveling through space is a pretty lonely and solitary experience— there’s very little player interaction beyond the occasional duel. The teamwork that makes so many multiplayer games engaging is largely absent. With so little to make it stand out, playing through Vendetta is like eating a thin gruel: bland, but not revolting.
