Vietnam Air War is add on for Microsoft Combat Flight Simulator 2. The aircraft are also compatible with Microsoft Flight Simulator 2002 , however in the civil simulation the weapons, drop tanks and some of the bases are unavailable.

The package contains aircraft from the US Air Force, the US Navy, and from North Vietnam together with thirty missions and additional scenery. The package installs to the Combat Flight Simulator directory and puts an icon on the desktop, however it is the Combat Flight Simulator CD that must be in the drive to play this extension, not the Vietnam Air War disc.

This add-on updates the menu system of Combat Flight Simulator. Vietnam is added to the Scenery Library and the following appear in the Aircraft Selection menus:
  • US Navy aircraft: Douglas A-1J Skyraider, McDonnell Douglas F-4N Phantom II, Grumman A-6A Intruder, Douglas A-4C Skyhawk, Chance Vought F-8E Crusader

  • US Airforce aircraft: Douglas A-1H Skyraider, Fairchild AC-11G Shadow, McDonnell Douglas F-4E Phantom II, Bell UH-1C Huey, Cessna 0-1F Bird Dog

  • North Vietnam aircraft: MiG-17 Fresco with and without camouflage, MiG-21 Fishbed
All the aircraft appear in the selection menu prefixed with the letters JFV, Just Flight Vietnam, which makes locating them much easier. These new places are added to the Location menus:
  • US Bases: Bien Hoa, Da Nang, Quntri USMC, Tra Bong, USS Enterprise
  • North Vitnamese Bases: Kep, Kien An, Phuc Yen, Vinh
All the new locations appear in the Location Library prefixed with the letters 'NAM'

Vietnam Air War Windows When selecting a mission the player first chooses a 'nationality'. USN & USAF are obviously both American but classing them as different nationalities allows separate missions for each
