Warcraft 2 gehört ins Regal eines jeden Echtzeit-Strategen und wer keine Version besitzt, sollte jetzt zuschlagen. Zumal Sie hier endlich auch im battle.net Ihre Kriegskunst unter Beweis stellen dürfen. Allerdings auch Ihre Geduld, denn gerade wenn sich mehr als vier Mitspieler raufen, schmälern teils erhebliche Lags den Spieltrieb doch enorm.

Regardless of what some may think of Warcraft II, the fact is the game has retained a loyal following for nearly half a decade, and for all these many fans, Battle.net Edition provides a carefully designed, tightly focused opportunity for them to experience one of their favorite games within a contemporary context. It's unlikely that Battle.net Edition will rekindle the same strong feelings that made Warcraft II such a hit back in its day. But it's a perfect homage to Blizzard's classic, and as such, even this unpretentious re-release smacks of the same high quality that put Blizzard at the top in the first place.

In der jetzt erschienenen Sonderauflage der Saga um einen Krieg zwischen Menschen und Orks sind neben der Original-Vollversion noch das Expansion-Set Beyond the Dark Portal sowie der Battle.net-Zugang für Mehrspielerpartien auf dem Blizzard-eigenen Server enthalten.

Only these shortcomings keep this game from getting a higher rating. If such issues don't bother you, then this game is recommended. Even after four years it has a lot to offer. However, for owners of the original game, this is worth it only if you really want to play via Battle.net; there aren't enough new features to justify the expense otherwise. At the same time, if somehow you missed the first one and want a solid and highly entertaining game, give this latest installment in the Warcraft series a look.

Man merkt WarCraft 2 sein Alter einfach an; technisch und im Mehrspieler-Modus kommt es nicht an Age of Empires 2 oder StarCraft heran. Vergleichsweise leer waren bei unserem Test auch die War-Craft-Channels im Battlenet – nur rund ein Viertel des Andrangs, der zum selben Zeitpunkt in den StarCraft-Channels herrschte. Was bleibt, ist ein noch heute guter Klassiker mit viel Charme, den ich Ihnen aber nur empfehlen kann, wenn Sie unbedingt die Battlenet-Option haben wollen.
