DescriptionWintersport Pro 2006 is a sports game which offers 20 championships in six categories: bobsled, alpine skiing, ski jumping, cross-country skiing, biathlon and Nordic combined. The handling is basically the same for every discipline: the start is a reaction-test where the player has to press space at the right moment. Then he uses the mouse and keyboard to control his character, e.g. steering him from left to right in cross-country-skiing or using the mouse to keep him in balance in bobsled. In cross-country-skiing and biathlon there is also a tactical component because the player sets the speed of his athlete which decreases his power. If all power is gone he gets very slow. Unique is that the player can turn back time once to undo mistakes (only available in single-player).
Every athlete has up to four abilities which influence his performance. Playing modes are single championships, winter games and a career. The winter games mode consists of all six championships. In the career mode the player chooses his discipline, nation and profile. Every nation and profile comes with different ability benefits, e.g. a German and managerial biathlon athlete gets a boost in shooting and condition. The player starts in the amateur championship and tries to get to the top. The game rewards every success with better abilities. During the career the player also unlocks three additional venues for the winter games (overall six).
