Quandary (Aug, 1996)
If you like role playing games with a healthy amount of statistics, a turn based combat system that allows you to manipulate your combat strategy, a huge game environment and an involving story then this one is worth trying. Bear in mind, however, that you will need plenty of time to get through it. Wizardry Gold has three difficulty levels and the story dictates that it has some sci-fi elements although, for the most part it feels like a traditional fantasy adventure.
No, Wizardry Gold does not deserve five stars, just a lesser but still respectable four stars. In other words, the original game was 24 karat gold, but some of the "improvements" dull the polish.

Coming Soon Magazine (Sep 15, 1996)
Wizardry Gold is an enhanced release of "Crusaders of the Dark Savant", the seventh episode of the Wizardry series published by Sir-Tech Software. This is a classical role playing game with management of a team of six adventurers, spell casting, lock-picking, fighting, evolution of the adventurers with experience points, and so on.

GameSpot (Jul 03, 1996)
Because of its clumsy engine, Wizardry Gold loses some of the charm that made its predecessor such a success—and proves the old proverb “all that glitters is not gold.” If you are looking for an excellent CRPG, try picking up the original Wizardry VII. It can be purchased at most stores for less than half the price of this remake, and provides much more bang for the buck.
