Multiplayer mode is probably the reason you’ll buy this. If for any reason you can’t get any buddies to come and play, the single-player mode is good as well. It takes place in the Worms’s world. Every stop on the map is a different challenge for you top. They could be speed challenges, or target practice. You will even find a few bosses. The difficulty here moves up quickly, so expect a few retries along the block. You will be entertained for quite a while. Certain challenges require that you use certain characters. As always, the large characters are more powerful, take more damage and each hit hurts them less but may be too slow for other challenges.

I really enjoyed the earlier Worms titles: games like Worms Armageddon was the perfect party game to spend all night playing with your buddies. It was turn-based, where you controlled your team of worms on a large, destructible stage, trying to eliminate your opponents with crazy, inventive weapons. The game was very fun, and had tons of replayability. I was rather disappointed when I heard that Worms Blast would not be another traditional title to continue the series, but rather, a puzzle game. In fact, I wasn't expecting the game to be good at all, just another Bust-A-Move clone to earn some money from the franchise.

Team 17, the makers of the long running Worms series are back again, but this time around the block they have taken a drastically different approach. Unlike the deathmatch style gameplay that has dominated the previous installments of this successful series, Worms Blast takes a detour into the world of puzzle games. And the results are surprising.

The Worms series of games have always been a bit off-kilter. In its initial incarnation as a time-sensitive 2D turn-based strategy game, Worms pitted cute little animated earth-munchers against one another with a vast arsenal of weapons and power-ups amid bright, colorful environments that got blown to bits in the process. As fans eagerly anticipate the first 3D incarnation of the series next year, Team 17 have created an unusual spin-off to keep us quite busy and amused: the rather addictive and hyperactive combat puzzle game, Worms Blast.

Taking a step out of their 2D shoes, the developers of Worms Blast have upgraded this title's graphics to those of cel shading, giving a pseudo 3-Dimensional look. The game is still played in 2D, but it does look much more current now. The visuals also retain the cartoon feel that practically made the other games, and they are more than welcome in this rendition of the series.

Don't go into Worms Blast expecting another turn-based Worms strategy game. The gameplay is almost fundamentally different in Worms Blast, but it maintains the bright and colorful style of a Worms game, and fans of the series may enjoy Worms Blast on these merits alone. It may look cute and innocuous, but Worms Blast can give any modern puzzle game a run for its money, so if you're a fan of puzzle games, you should definitely give this one a try.

Worms Blast would have been a great game… six years ago. Now, it’s nothing groundbreaking, creative or innovative. Here is my advice: If you absolutely need a new puzzle game for PC and you love Bust-a-Move-esque games, then have at it. But other than that motive, I see no reason to really purchase this game. Once again, I wish that it was a rehash of the tried and true Worms formula, then at least I could blast the memory of playing this game out of my head.

Gamers' Temple, The
Overall, the game has its fun and addicting moments, although it is hampered by uneven level design, loose control, and a confusing menu scheme. Players who enjoy games like Super Bust-A-Move will enjoy this one, but those who prefer puzzles that reward thought without relying on reflexes as well might find it a bit frustrating.

The game should last your quite a while, with multiple modes, including player vs. computer, player vs. player, battle, and the long-lasting tournament mode. You can go on for hours in its endless levels, but two players is where it's at. The game has multiple two player modes, which are rather fun, but the controls may put off casual gamer friends, which is a quite a blow for a two-player puzzle game, as this is where it should thrive.

Game Chronicles
Worms Blast may fall victim to its own design, which fails to settle on a given premise or set of rules. By mixing up the gameplay and missions objectives with almost every mission you never quite know what to expect next. This may turn off traditional puzzle gamers even though I found the eclectic mix of modes refreshing.

This game is disappointing in more than one aspect. It plays no justice to both excellent games that it is a mixture of, and has no appeal to anybody. You can't buy it for your kids as it has complex puzzles and deathmatches, you won't sit and play it yourself as single player, and you won't bother teaching your half-drunk mate how to shoot a missile through a wooden hole! If you're a die-hard bust-a-move fan this game is for you. If you're a die-hard worms fan then I advise stay away, your favourite worms were used as a "face" for a puzzle game that Team17 felt like making in their lunch break.

Worms...they're cute, they're comical, and they're deadly. Well, at least these worms are. The Worms series has held a dear place in my heart for years. There's just something endearing about combining adorable little Annelids with weapons of mass destruction. There was a time around the office when we would all gang up on Vinny in our almost daily after-lunch Worms bouts and make him cry. Ah, sweet memories. With the latest Worms game -- Worms Blast -- Team 17 has decided to take a radical turn away from their turn-based, kill-'em-all approach and take Worms into a whole new direction. Unfortunately, the change isn't for the better.

Bedankt Team 17... ik ben geruïneerd! Hoe jullie dat goed kunnen maken? Door keihard terug te knallen, met een ECHTE nieuwe versie van Worms. Alleen dan zijn wij bereid omdit fiasco te vergeten!
