Zoo Tycoon: Dinosaur Digs is an expansion pack for last winter’s Zoo Tycoon. It lets you try on the shoes of John Hammond to see if you can create your own version of Jurassic Park, but without the inevitable lawsuits and without people getting eaten (or at least without the lawsuits). And with over 20 new creatures to play with, plus a host of new attractions and eye candy, Dinosaur Digs is fun enough to play even if things do go badly. It also contains just about everything you’d expect from an expansion pack.

Defiantly laughing in the face of all the knowledge that Michael Crichton bestowed upon the world with Jurassic Park, developer Blue Fang and publisher Microsoft were more than happy to let all of you have a chance to succeed where all of those wacky scientists in the book failed. Zoo Tycoon: Dinosaur Digs will certainly allow you the opportunity to raise your own dinosaurs without the worry of actually being eaten. It's no secret that Zoo Tycoon wasn't one of my favorite games of all time. I still hold firm with many of my gripes about the gameplay. Regardless of this, Dinosaur Digs adds plenty to the formula in the form of new props, buildings, and of course all manner of pre-historic creatures to please your guests. If you liked Zoo Tycoon chances are, you'll really get a kick out of this expansion. Hell, I even had a few laughs from it.

Dinosaur Digs contains some real enjoyment, but doesn't really add very much to the game. More creative scenarios would have been nice. The new content is a lot of fun, but reconciling the cost is tough. For what it offers, and at two-thirds the price of the original game, Dinosaur Digs is priced too high. I'd suggest downloading the free content (new animals and scenarios) off the web for the original game and biding your time until this expansion hits the bargain bin.

Scientists have held a fascination for dinosaurs for nearly four centuries, but it was only in the last few decades that civilians have found the "terrifying lizards" to be an exciting topic of conversation. Ever since Jurassic Park came out in 1993, our fascination has continued unabated. Blue Fang Games' first expansion to Zoo Tycoon, Dinosaur Digs, hands you twenty once extinct animals from four different epochs and lets you craft a Jurassic Park of your own.

Dinosaur Digs is a great idea for an expansion pack. What better way to make your zoo bigger, more fantastical, and more dramatic than to give it a Jurassic-sized infusion of new life? What could be more exotic than a fern-choked exhibit with a pack of crafty velociraptors behind electrified fences? What could be more disastrous than a tyrannosaurus rex on the loose, chowing down on screaming guests? There are almost two dozen new creatures (including some Ice Age mammals thrown in among the dinosaurs), a new set of buildings, and a few new staff members to handle it all. And while these are all well and good, they unfortunately don't breathe enough new life into Zoo Tycoon to appeal to anyone but die-hard fans.

Overall, the new content provides some fun, but more creative scenarios would have been nice. Similarly to Zoo Tycoon, this expansion will catch rather girls because they likes to take care of animals. But I think 15 bucks is probably too high price for this add-on.

A LOT OF YOU might have sailed right past the original Zoo Tycoon so the Dino Digs expansion is a good opportunity to find out a bit more about one of Microsoft's more whimsical franchises. Zoo Tycoon was a tidy little economic management game and the expansion adds a bit more excitement to the mix but introducing a bevy of prehistoric terrors to your Zoo.

Take last year’s disappointing Zoo Tycoon and throw in 20 prehistoric beasties, ranging from wooly mammoths and sabertooth cats to Barney’s distant flesh-rending cousins. Hey presto, one expansion pack.

Zoo Tycoon was certainly fun and faintly educational, a good game for kids and adults alike. There was plenty to keep up with and it was addictive enough, making it a worthwhile strategy title for those with an interest in the genre. Now, Microsoft has released the expansion pack, Dinosaur Digs, but the results aren't quite as positive.
