Grand Finish to the Zork series

The Good
This game represents the return of the loopy logic of the first games, but with full color images. I was dumbstruck by the sheer visual settings and the mechanism of the game. The game lost none of its challenge and managed to fully realize the Underground Empire as imagined by playing Zork I-III.

There was quite a few laugh out loud moments. I laughed myself sick over the chess puzzle solution. It was a truly cathartic event. Game play is very simple and unintrusive. The music is ambient and adds to the mystique of the game.

Activision had the foresight to put it on a DVD rom so players can avoid the CD swapouts.

The Bad
Some of the puzzles are incredibly tough and not exactly logical. Some of the acting was less than entertaining. The FMV moments were fuzzy at best, despite being MPEG encoded for playback.

The Bottom Line
If you liked Myst and the Monkey Island games, you'll really like this.
