Wordfinder

Wordfinder is a single player game in which players try to find words in a grid of letters. It is entirely mouse controlled and, unusually, the search words are presented one at a time though there is an option to see the full list. Compiling puzzles with backwords words is optional, it's enabled by default, and the game has optional sound, music and in the registered version there's a function which allows the player to create their own puzzles - this is proposed as an educational/teaching aid.

There are fifty puzzles in the shareware version of the game and over one hundred and fifty puzzles in the registered version, they are grouped into themed folders called Holiday & Vacations(5); Health & Food(9); Sports (9); Familiar Things(15); Arts & Music(14); Science(10); Industry(14); War & History(23); Crossword Style(3); Picture Style(1); Geography(15); Living Things(11); Language Fun(2); Modern Life(14); and Education & Misc(11). Puzzles range in topic from "Australian Expressions" to "World of Modeling", from "German Hints - English Words" to "Grounds For Divorce".

In the Crossword Style group the player is given a clue to the word they must find, similarly in the Picture. All puzzles can be printed and are compiled as they are selected so the player cannot learn where certain words are hidden in order to beat a timed game.
