This game starts you off in the year 2000 B.C as ruler of a new tribe. The goal with the game is to conquer, trade, explore, research, managing economy and use diplomacy in order to win over all the other 40 factions on the map. There are also special factions such as Pirates and Revolutionary groups that imposes threats and are obstacles on your way to glory. You progress on your way becoming first a Civilization, later an Empire and if you are successful to become a World Empire.
The Earth Scenario has a 180x72 hexagon map and can be played in single player, multiplayer and team play.
The game has over 60 different unit types (military units as well as special units), 90 technologies and 10 terrain types. Game spans all the way from Stone Age warriors to 20th Century Tanks and Bombers.
You win the game either by conquest or by victory points and there are many roads to victory. As example Spies can steal technology, Negotiators can arrange peace deals and sign trade agreements, prospectors can search for new raw materials.
Economic power can be built in many ways. Sea strategies for getting trade route access is one way. Raw Materials and Luxury Items can be either imported or produced internally. Trade wars can be fought for getting import monopoly on important land routes. Population can raise their educational level and provide you with certain bonuses. You need to supply your pop with luxury items to advance their educational level. Raw Materials can be used both for military units and for expanding your cities or their defences.
When you want an even greater challenge you can log into the online server that provides matchmaking and a ranking system and play up to 8 players real time with up to 4 players in each team.
