Worms is a superb yet simple game concept which invites competition between as many human players as you can get your hands on. It's available on almost every format and the CD32 version is one of the best. Its only real problem is that the cheesy copy protection of the A1200 version with its little black book of 5950 codes is still there. This is because you can copy it off the CD onto a hard drive. CD32 owners shouldn't be penalised with a protection routine that isn't necessary for their machines.

It appeals equally to hardened games players and computer virgins because of its easy to use interface and immediately involving gameplay. If I was to make a must have-recommendation for a game this Christmas, Worms is it...

In the end, Worms is the kind of game that has to be played to be appreciated and once you've tried it, you'll be hooked.

Grafikken i Worms er ganske varieret ud over de 10 forskellige landskaber. Worms er et helt specielt spil, som man enten vil elske eller hade - personligt elsker jeg det.

If there were one downside to the game it would be the control when firing your weapons. With ever-changing wind factor it will take some time with a steep learning curve to finally be able to pin point where you want some of your weapons to go. All in all though, you will laugh, you will cry, you will definitely want to pick this one up.

As you can tell by this review, I really enjoy playing this game. I have to admit, I am easily lured by the flashy graphics in a game, but was pleasantly suprised to find that I was able to "look past" the simple graphics and enjoy this game for what it is...jeese, I hope I'm not starting to grow up. Believe me, everything in this game "feels" just right. WORMS is destined to become a classic...

Suffice to say, Worms thoroughly deserves to be a real smash. You find things out about the depths of people's deviousness, creativity, prejudices and intelligence when you play this game. It's wonderful to take part in and even better to win. Buy it today - you certainly won't regret it.

Worms is a little hard to describe, except that it is probably the most fun you'll have in a two-player game. The game looks very similar to Lemmings, except that there are two teams, both trying to eliminate each other with various methods of attacks, like Dragon Punches and guided missiles. Each team of worms also has special abilities such as pneumatic drills, bungee ropes and kamikaze attacks. Some games have great graphics and control, but Worms doesn't need either because the fun factor is a 10+. With multiplayer ability of up to four people, Worms is one of those games that is so unique, it doesn't fit into any category --- except innovative and incredibly addictive. Try this game!

Ten years ago or more, there was a game called Artillery which consisted of two players destroying each other's castle while firing over one or more mountains. The graphics for the mountains were made up of a continuous line and was nothing special. To hit your opponent you had to fire your weapon by setting the trajectory's angle, firing power, and take into consideration any wind that may be blowing. The game was simple and yet fun to play. Team 17 has taken the game's concept and spruced it up with Lemmings style graphics supplying us with a new game called Worms.

Worms is a wonderfully entertaining game overall, and one that I'm sure I'll be playing for years to come. The multiplayer, single-computer game is a fast-shrinking category. It's great for a quick game between friends. Perhaps future games based on Worms will incorporate more of what makes a Mac unique. Until then, gratifying gameplay, great sound effects and explosion physics will have you laughing and crying at the tiny worms onscreen as they punch, shoot, bomb, and dynamite each other into oblivion.

This version has more or less just been dumped to CD by Team 17. It's not a game that takes full advantage of the CD status - why, for instance, could the CDXL animations not be incorporated into the game? Maybe not each time there was a kill, but at least at the end of each level or game even. However, it is a brilliant game that's now available to CD32 owners, for which we should be thankful.

Mitä hienoa, näppärää ja taitavaa pelaaja ikuna tekeekin, tietokone ei masennu, ei kiroile, ei tillitä itkua eikä muutenkaan osaa käyttäytyä tilanteen vaatimalla tavalla, puhumattakaan siitä että se töpeksisi todella lahjakkaasti.Moninpelinä Worms onkin sitten erinomaisen hauska, mikä ei ole lainkaan yllättävää. Todella yllättävää on, että aikana jolloin internetistä ja surffipelleilystä ollaan väen väkisin tekemässä uutta uskontoa, Worms ei tue muuta moninpeliä kuin saman koneen ääressä vuorottelua, onneksi sentään peräti 16 pelaajan voimin.Worms on kuitenkin hauska ja sosiaalinen peli, joka sopii erinomaisen hyvin esimerkiksi vaikka siihen, kun muiden Raittiusseuran poikien kanssa palataan vihollisympäristöön suoritetulta tiedusteluretkeltä, ja Steel Panthers ei enää ole hyvä idea.

Worms beweist wieder einmal eindrucksvoll, daß die einfachsten Spielideen doch häufig die besten sind. In diesem Game wird ein Spielspaßfeuerwerk sondergleichen abgebrannt, das eigentlich jedem etwas bietet: allein im stillen Kämmerchen kann man an Worms ebensoviel Freude haben wie beim schnellen Schlagabtausch unter Freunden oder dem zähen Kampf bis zum letzten Wurm.

Yes, it is a fun game and there are explosions, but also a few problems, first this is one of those games where the follow ups are better. The newer Worms Armageddon is the same but better, so if you can play it don’t worry much about the original one. And second, it’s a multiplayer game (if it was done today it would be a “party game” or “casual game” or whatever the marketing guys think is cool), so you need people for getting all the fun from it.

Don't let the simplistic look of Worms fool you; this isn't your standard Lemmings-style puzzler or run-and-jump action game. Instead, this humor-filled offering transforms the side-scrolling platform format into a turn-based action-strategy game in which you control a team of well-armed worms (what else?) and try to defeat as many as three teams of adversaries controlled by the computer or other gamers. It's a clever idea that's just far enough off the beaten path to attract those who've grown tired of more demanding strategy games, and humorous enough to entertain everyone else. (--Todd Vaughn)

WORMS is an original idea that has been packaged in a highly entertaining game. Gameplay is easy to figure out and each game should prove to be different. It's no wonder that WORMS has a huge following across the web. Be sure to check out the WORMS homepage and see what landscapes other players enjoyed, or just learn the lyrics to the WORMS theme song. WORMS provides a refreshing basic strategy interface and fills it with humorous antics, which makes it fun for the whole family. The theme behind gameplay is to blow up the other worms, so parents should note that there is a violent nature to the game. Note that even in the nicely rendered cut scenes between rounds, the violence factor is toned down with cartoon-like sequences. Though the strategy in WORMS is pretty basic, it's involved enough to attract even the most seasoned gamer.

Worms låter helsjukt, är ännu sjukare och otroligt kul. Mycket olika vapen, en rad olika tillbehör och möjligheten för upp till 16 personer att styra varsitt lag gör Worms till en höjdare.

Worms is one of those rare games that steps past all of the high profile multimedia fluff and concentrates on delivering what gamers really thirst for - an entertaining play session. Everything about this title, from its “kill everything that moves” concept to its arrow key control, is designed with simplicity and entertainment in mind.

So manierlich Humor und Spielbarkeit sein mögen - der ganz große Wurf ist Worms nicht geworden. Der Idee fehlt der letzte Genialitäts-Feinschliff und Solo-Partien sind auf Dauer zu öde. Mit mehreren Spielern sieht's anders aus: Dann kann man auf unsere Gesamtwertung im Geiste 5 bis 10 Punkte draufschlagen.

Als je de graphics en het geluid even ter zijde laat, dan is Worms een plezierig spel om met enkele vrienden te spelen. Als je het alleen tegen de computer speelt, dan zal het zeer snel vervelen.

If you're into video gaming, which I think you are when you're reading this article on this site, it's quite nearly impossible that you don't know Worms. It has been released on almost every system, so it was no surprise we got a Saturn version as well.

The battles aren't much fun. Puny worms and weapons make for weak characterization. And the action is too repetitive and slow to generate any excitement. You'll eventually want to squish worms.

I could go on and on and rant about how much is missing in this port compared to the computer and 32-bit versions. But it is to no point. I will just end this by saying this is a big pile of wasted potential and a rush-job only done to squeeze money from a winning concept without caring for the customers. Skip this one and track down a computer version - there were several expansion packs released making this port even more of a worthless option. Worms might be a fun game on the Mega Drive too, but the sweetness you are temporarily enjoying leaves a bitter aftertaste and a hunger for a better version.
