Description

X-15-1 is the first package in a series of three add-ons for Microsoft's Flight Simulator 2004 and Flight Simulator X featuring the North American X-15 rocket-powered experimental aircraft.

This package focuses on the the X-15-1, the first one of three prototypes. The 3D models and cockpit panels are detailed and based on archive material. The cockpit includes 2D instrument panels with 240 custom gauges and systems to simulate almost every step and procedure required in a typical X-15 mission. A fully functional 3D virtual cockpit becomes available with the 1.1 version, it can be downloaded from the developer's site for free. This 3D cockpit consists of 900 parts and nearly 200 animated gauges, switches, levers, light indicators and flight instruments. Also included are twelve saved flights based on X-15 historical missions, new visual effects (rocket engine flames, APU exhaust, propellant jettison effects) and a 100 page manual inspired from the original X-15 utility flight manuals.
