PlayStation 3Good Game
I know I’m a wolverine fanboy, but this was a really nice surprise – a great movie game- and despite some stubborn camera control here and there, I loved every second of it, and I’m giving it 9.5/10. Like how you felt with Riddick last week Jung, It’s the first game in Ages that I’ve picked up, and not wanted to put down until I had beaten it.

PlayStation 3GamingTrend
A movie-based game that is well done and relatively problem free? X-Men Origins: Wolverine is definitely one of the more pleasant surprises of the year. While it does have some minor issues here and there, the gameplay is addictive and enjoyable, with an appealing story line that you won’t want to see end. Best of all, this title stays faithful to the comic book canon, and gives us insight to one of comicdom’s favorite characters. Without doubt, this is one title that is well worth your gaming dollar.

X-Men Origins: Wolverine is a superb action game especially for fans of the character. This is the Wolverine game that fans have been waiting for. It’s not incredibly varied and a lesser game would have suffered because of this but Wolverine is just incredibly fun.

PlayStation 3Good Game
There’s plenty of hours here, and even though the game ends a bit out of nowhere, you’ll get your action fix out of wolverine, and then some, and I’m giving it 9.

Finally, an X-Men game that does the character justice. Expectations are typically fairly low for movie-licensed games that don’t target children but fortunately Raven Software defied the odds. Their M-rated adaptation of the PG-13 film pulls no punches in delivering a truly powerful character and empowering you to step into his shoes.

PlayStation 3Worth Playing
None of my complaints should sway you away from X-Men Origins: Wolverine, though, as it's one of the rare moments when both a movie and a comic book character get a game that's done right. This one hews far closer to Spider-Man 2 than The Incredible Hulk, and it's a game that all action fans owe it to themselves to check out. Have you ever been rewarded for ripping 250 guys in half with your bare hands? You will be while playing this game, and if that's not reason enough to buy it, then I really don't know what is.
87
WindowsYouGamers
X-Men Origins: Wolverine may not be a perfect masterpiece, but it has been polished from all the right spots. Non-stop action worthy of the M-rating, showing you exactly what you can do with a pair of adamantium claws in gory detail. Does not offer that much replay value but stays fun all the way to the end.

If you are like me and I’m sure there are a lot of you, then seek out the Uncaged Edition versions. I like the new Wolverine through the good and the bad. The game is not perfect but it’s a very good start. I recommend X-Men Origins: Wolverine – Uncaged Edition for the PC to anyone wanting to take a walk on the wild side. Step aside Saturday morning cartoons, there’s a new Wolverine in town and he’s not happy.

PlayStation 3Daily Game
There's seldom a dull moment in this game, and when one arises it's intentional. Raven completely outdid themselves with this game, delivering one of the best Marvel games yet to ship.

PlayStation 3Impulse Gamer
At the end of the day, X-Men Origins: Wolverine is a very good game that features action, adventure and fighting all under the auspice of Wolverine. With decent graphics, cinemas to die for, Wolverine truly breaks the "movie curse" and Raven should be commended on creating such as engaging and entertaining title. The gameplay is quite sturdy that translates to some exciting and well thought out boss battles. My only gripe is that most gamers will be able to complete this title in around 15 hours, depending on your experience, however it's definitely worth the journey.

WindowsGameZone
Wolverine may not sport some of the most original gameplay elements seen in the superhero genre, but what the game does do is delve deep into the Logan’s character and really does an admirable job of making the player feel as though they are Wolverine. This is a game that is true to the character. That does translate into an M rating, but it is nice to see that Raven gave remained true to the character rather than worry about the ESRB rating.
83
Xbox 360Gaming Target
While X-Men Origins: Wolverine is not a perfect game, Raven can easily lay claim to having created the best game ever starring Wolverine. The action is a tad repetitive, but it also perfectly nails Wolverine as a character. From the beautifully cinematic presentation to the moments that just make you say "Wow!", the game's high octane action will make fans of the X-Men, and action gamers in general, very happy.

PlayStation 3ZTGameDomain
X-Men Origins: Wolverine is not a game for everyone; you have to have a strong stomach, you have to like hack and slash games and you have to know the story of Wolverine to fully appreciate it. If you don't know anything about Wolverine but like your hack and slash games, you will no doubt like this game, wonky camera and all. With a ton of moves to master, insane boss fights and cool real time healing, you will have a blast learning about one of Marvel's most beloved characters

PlayStation 3Game Revolution
The only other downside to this is the length (about 7 hours). If this had been just a couple of hours longer and had the option to kill Gambit, I’d say this was a shoe-in for game of the year. But as it stands, Wolverine: Origins is a blistering homage to our favorite mutie with claws, and another example that even if a video game is based off a mediocre movie, it can still rip the gaming scene apart. In a good way, bub.

Xbox 360Xbox360Achievements
Mix together a comic book character with some God of War/Tomb Raider gameplay, then cook it with a high degree of passion and you'll have X-Men Origins: Wolverine. A violent, entertaining affair that looks as good as it plays and doesn't hold back for the squeamish.

Xbox 360411mania.com
Make no mistake about it. This game is not perfect, but it is a damn good starting off point. I am anxious to see what Raven Software will be able to do when they do not have to keep Wolverine in the confines of his own movie. If they are able to choose the story for the next Wolverine game, things can only get better. The game is satisfying, and will now sit as my second favorite movie game ever created. Granted there have not been many good ones, but this one is worth checking out. You want Wolverine, this is as close as you will get to him right now, bloody violent, and a blast to play through.
80
Xbox 360Gamestyle
In truth Wolverine could have scored higher simply due to more time being allowed for bug testing, and possibly having no association with the terrible film. But that doesn’t prevent it from being a good solid, and ultimately, fun game.

PlayStation 3Extreme Gamer
Raven Software acts as the gamers super-hero by developing one of the best comic book gaming experiences in recent memory. X-Men Origins: Wolverine might be marked as a movie-tie in property, but in now way does it perform like one. If you have ever wanted to jump into the shoes as Wolverine and unleashed the savageness beneath his skin, this is the game. Wolverine is fearless as it surpasses expectations making it a definite "must have" title for all X-Men, Marvel, and action gaming fans..

PlayStation 3GamingExcellence
Origins is a fun game with great story and visuals, perfect for fans of Wolverine, hack and slash gameplay or a shirtless Hugh Jackman. However, with only about ten hours of gameplay you may be better off renting this game than buying it outright at full price. Being a single player only game, there isn’t much replay value if you don’t like what Origins embodies, or get simply get tired of slaughtering mindless idiots. For me, this is a game I look forward to playing through again, but this is coming from someone who has enjoyed most of the Dynasty Warrior games, over and over and over again.

PlayStation 3Game Over Online
It’s obvious from the beginning that this game isn’t trying to do anything new or terribly innovative. Origins does action, and does it well. It also does visceral, bloody combat extremely well. The addition of environmental kills makes the already brutal combat even more brutal. There aren’t many games where you can impale countless enemies on trees and other sharp objects. The absence of a multiplayer component is extremely disappointing, especially since some sort of multiplayer (or even co-op) would’ve worked well with this type of game. This hurts the game’s overall value and level of replayability, but not enough to keep this game from being something any action (or X-Men) fan should try. Shredding enemies with Wolverine’s Adamantium claws never gets old, and there’s a good level of variety in the enemies and levels to keep the game from becoming too dull.

It's without question one of the best movie-licensed video games in stores and a satisfying action romp for X-Men fanatics. Rapidly pressing the same buttons to slaughter similar looking bad guys eventually grows repetitive, and the game chugs when the bigger monsters hit the screen, but overall, you'll enjoy carving evildoers like lunch meat and battling familiar foes from the comic books and this week's film. Make sure you play it, bub.

The story jumps the shark, and manages to mangle two of Marvel’s most cherished characters in the process. The game may lose steam as it goes, but the excellent combat still makes it worth the price of admission.

The “video game of the movie” is typically a tired, obligatory exercise. Based on Wolverine’s last movie tie-in, X-Men 2: Wolverine’s Revenge, gamers would be right to be skeptical of X-Men Origins: Wolverine. But, X-Men Origins: Wolverine is more than the typical summer blockbuster throwaway title. Taking cues from God of War, Wolverine is an epic brawler set comfortably between the X-Men movie franchise and the Marvel Universe.

Should any of the criticism I've launched keep you from playing X-Men Origins: Wolverine -- Uncaged Edition? No, this is an awesome guilty pleasure. Usually, I'll sit down to review a repetitive game that's filled with the same attacks and just tear it apart because the repetition sucks the fun out of the experience. X-Men Origins has repetition in spades, but it's the kind of repetition Wolverine/action game fans are going to love; I mean, can you get sick of literally slicing someone in two and watching the blood explode across the screen? Can you get sick of hoisting a bad guy in the air and savagely stabbing him in the gut over and over again? Can you get sick of watching Wolverine get beaten down to his adamantium skeleton only to sit there and marvel as his muscle and skin grown back in real time? I can't.

PlayStation 3NZGamer
For a movie tie-in game, X-Men Origins: Wolverine has a surprisingly long 13+ hour playing time. There are some token unlockables to explore on top of this, the best ones being the classic X-Men costumes (even how you win them is clever). Overall, this should be a decent rental for action fans and a worthy addition to your collection for those people who know who James Howlett is.

PlayStation 3GameFocus
I rarely enjoy button mashing or combo style action games and never complete them. The concept just can’t withstand an eight hour game for me. But X-Men Origins: Wolverine takes that concept and integrates a beloved superhero and just about kept me entertained for the entire game. They’ve captured what has always made Wolverine a favourite among comic book and cartoon fans and catered to their grown up tastes.

PlayStation 3PSX Extreme
All in all, Wolverine is the type of game that's actually worth a purchase. Is it worth the full $60? Eh, barely. But knock off 20 and it's definitely a game you should pick up while you wait for God of War 3. It may get repetitive and frustrating, but it still manages to be a fun game that you'll likely enjoy playing to the very end. It has a decent graphics engine, fun gameplay, good controls, and good sound. Download the demo if you're not sure.

X-Men Origins: Wolverine – Uncaged Edition rises above the normal sanitized superhero games we typically expect from the genre. Wolverine is a very violent man and he is very good at what he does. I’m guessing a lot of parents are going to unsuspectingly buy this game for their kids and then be shocked later. Personally, I found the violence so over-the-top it almost reverted back to comical…or at least comic book. It was more stylized than offensive, but conservative parents should be warned, this isn’t your Saturday morning superhero. This is Wolverine, and he’s back, bigger, better, and uncaged. Check it out!

Overall, Raven Software did a very good job of sticking close to the movie plot while simultaneously delivering a rewarding experience. Still, gameplay became boring and repetitive fairly often and some minor issues with the camera and graphics were encountered. Despite this, we can safely chalk up X-Men Origins: Wolverine as one more in a new breed of movie-to-video games that don’t suck.

The other major problem is that being a movie to game translation the storyline follows the script of the film. With the film having a bad plot, Wolverine the game has no chance from the onset. The pacing of the story is way off and I found myself rushing through the end stages just to finish the game. I was honestly hoping for something more. The only bright-spot is unlocking Wolverine’s comic costumes and replaying levels as the X-Man whose powers we all wish we had.

If you're not a big fan of attack button heavy action games, Wolverine is not enough of a departure from the mold to change your mind about these types of games. However, if you like Wolverine, X-Men Origins, or a big bloody mess of an action game, you should certainly give Wolverine a try.

Still, X-Men Origins: Wolverine shines when you're simply throwing yourself at enemies and ripping their throats out, chaining together lunges and combos and plunging your claws through skulls. It's an indulgent pleasure that rarely gets stale despite its repetitive nature. It isn't a game that will appeal to everyone -- it’s strictly for the brawler crowd -- but those willing to give it a chance will enjoy the game's fast pace and glean a perverse satisfaction from its violent combat. As for X-Men fanboys? Well, they can rest assured that X-Men Origins: Wolverine is the absolute best Wolverine game to date.

If you consider yourself as a person who just wants to pick up and play without worrying about investing too much time into the game for results, then X-Men Origins: Wolverine is definitely right up your alley. Presentation is key, especially in a one note symphony like this one, and this is where Activision and Raven shine. Years of dealing with the Marvel-verse have given them some incredible insights into the characters and story here and it's evident. Every remark, battle cry and slash looks, sounds, and feels authentic to these characters, especially Wolverine and Sabertooth. This game will definitely put you in the spandex of your favorite spandex slasher, which by the way is not the manliest of looks.

X-Men Origins: Wolverine reminds me a lot of Spider-Man 3; they’re both perfectly serviceable action games that do a great job of putting you in a superhero’s shoes, but make you wish there was more to do in those shoes. Still, it’s a somewhat addictive action title that should please fans of the character and action gamers alike. The lack of replayability means you'll probably get your fill of the game in about a week, but it's definitely worth a playthrough.

The problem is it's a one trick pony. The shock of the violence and the speed of the gameplay initially grabs your attention, but it lacks the spectacle to keep itself feeling fresh and inventive, then before long a sense of banal repetition sets in. And you're not even a third of the way through the game. I can't deny that it gives you quite a lot of game for your money, but it also outstays its welcome. But maybe that's a design flaw to be exacerbated by reviewers who have to rocket through the game within a couple of days. Going at it slowly, steadily and in small doses would make the constant repetition less prominent. But that wouldn't mean it's not there, either. Finally, it deserves some mention for being the first superhero tie-in game I've ever played that's miles better than the movie. The film is dire.

Let’s face it, X-men Origins: Wolverine was supposed to suck. You know it, I know it. It’s a licensed game. Surprise! It doesn’t. That’s not to say it doesn’t have its fair share of problems though. It’s repetitive and the story is just plain awful, but you can’t deny how fun it is to finally be able to control Logan like he was meant to be.

Xbox 360Thunderbolt Games
Sadly, this is another case of a game falling victim to the tie-in; cutting corners to meet a short deadline. If it were possible for more time to be spent fine-tuning everything this would be a much better game; as it is, it’s a competent action-adventure that’s probably better than its movie counterpart, and that’s all we can really hope for.
70
Xbox 360Blend Games
Though I can't say Wolverine is a great game, it's still loads better than the vast majority of movie-to-game adaptations out there. Most studios crap these adaptations out and run away with their ill-gotten money but Raven Software actually seemed to care about the quality of their project. The end of the game hints at a sequel and I hope Raven makes a follow-up that's far removed from any film. I'm curious to see what they can do if they create another Wolverine at their own pace and without the creative restrictions of source material.
70
PlayStation 3videogamer.com
X-Men Origins: Wolverine is an extremely competent hack 'n' slash that achieves exactly what developer Raven set out to do: deliver a real Wolverine experience. This isn't the feral X-Man as family-friendly super-hero, but a full-on blood thirsty killer. The combat is fast and fun, the presentation often hugely impressive and Wolverine's shreddable body almost worth the asking price alone. Sadly a lot of repetition brings the whole package down, and there are a few too many little glitches, but if you've always wanted to play as Wolverine without the muzzle, this is what you've been waiting for.

PlayStation 3TotalVideoGames (TVG)
Undoubtedly the most enjoyable game to be based around Wolverine (but that's probably not saying much), X-Men Origins: Wolverine offers fast-paced, brutal, brainless action by the bucketload. It's certainly not of the same calibre as God of War or Devil May Cry, but X-Men fans will probably have more fun then watching the movie.

PlayStation 3DarkZero
X-Men Origins: Wolverine is a refreshing entry into the comic book/movie-crossover genre. It has its flaws, and is by no means the perfect game, but it is the perfect Wolverine-simulator, at least for the time being. Knowing that the means to create such a fantastic formula now exists, only fills me with anticipation for any future Wolverine titles. But for now, this is a reassuring reminder that movie games don’t have to be awful – in fact, they can be better than the films they’re based on. It’s the best at what it does, and what it does is very good indeed.

Sturdy enough as a brawler with me-too adventuring and some mostly solid production values, X-Men Origins: Wolverine is merely as good as the movie, in reality. If you're not fussy, like your button-mashy beat-em-ups and are addicted to either Wolverine or Hugh Jackman's tank-like physique, you'll get the most out of this. It's God of War with claws and an equally bloodthirsty attitude; flawed, fun and fairly brainless gaming that will infuriate fans of the characters while keeping those same fans playing through, just to see what's around the bend.

Frank Miller’s line for Wolverine, “I’m the best at what I do and what I do isn’t very nice” will become your mantra. Gaining new attacks and getting faster healing abilities makes you feel as if you are Wolverine. The rub is by the time you are finished living out the movie/ game and a few additional moments, you don’t want to go back and play it all over again. It was just too frustrating. Any great game should make you want to pick it up and beat it all over again. This is a once and done Wolverine adventure.

At the end of the day X-Men Origins: Wolverine offers a fun, albeit repetitive romp as one of comics' most savage characters. For all of the emotional troubles and failings that have always been the hallmark of Marvel characters, you could always count on Wolverine to come out of a scrap alive. The only question was how badly he was going to mess his opponents up. That spirit carries over beautifully in the game, and even when you're fighting the twelfth room of the same guys, the variety with which you can take care of business gives a fun, visceral experience.

Are there many faults with Wolverine? It is easy to point to many of them. But take a moment and consider who Wolverine is and his motivations and mutant tools of the trade. At that point, you'll be able to understand how this type of game fits the popular character more than a deep and complex game with all kinds of combat details.

Xbox 360GameSpy
X-Men Origins: Wolverine provides a satisfying but flawed experience. The core combat really captures the gory glee that made God of War and Devil May Cry so entertaining. More than many licensed games, Raven has captured the essence of what make Wolverine tick. That's why it's a shame that the rest of the game feels shoddy. The plot jumps around too much to be coherent, most boss battles aren't captivating, and some stages drag on far too long. Origins sags with plenty of problems, but it's still a cut above most Hollywood-licensed pap.

Its repetitive gameplay, mundane puzzle design and eye-twitching platforming segments really cuts into Origins' fun and yet, for fans of the franchise, it's a solid title that's worth playing through. It will even make the most jaded comic fan smirk every once in a while. However, if you're not a huge fan of Wolverine, I'd suggest you sink your claws into something else.

Wolverine's satisfying combat and hearty enthusiasm for creative mutilation help distract from the repetition and rough edges.

While the game doesn’t break any new ground it is a lot of fun to play and worth your time if you’re a Wolvie fan or looking for a glimpse of what God of War could look like in HD.

Repetitious enemies and a convoluted plot make Wolverine's starring role a little messy.

As it goes, I'm almost grateful they didn't. X-Men Origins: Wolverine may be unapologetically violent, but it's also unapologetically repetitive, and it's the one apology that needs to be made. Over and over again, please. So if you're reading this in 2015, and you're just now in a position to buy it, don't. You've got better things to do. After all, you're probably a mutant yourself by now. Go stab something.
