The best Football management game ever. Football (or soccer to our American friends) fans will love this.
So there you have it. The game is as good as it always was and the new additions bring the game up to date just in time for Christmas. If you want to read more on how the game navigates with the Xbox controller because you didn't play last seasons version, then click here to read the review as it's basically the same without the aforementioned additions. Of course there is now an alternative in LMA Manager 2003 but if you're looking for realism and the best football management game on the Xbox there is only one title that will do and that's Championship Manager: Season 02/03.
These criticisms aside, it's still by far the best footy management game on a console, and if you don't own a PC, and have no intention of purchasing one, then its an essential purchase if you can live with the less than perfect control system. Other attempts at making a dumbed down 'console' version just seem lame after playing CM, and - to be fair - suffer from exactly the same control issues we've discussed.
As far as things go, Championship Manager 02/03 is the best management sim available on any console. Great presentation thanks to the hundred or so photographs of grounds and scenes in the beautiful game gives a great front to a complex but not too complicated immersive game. It's like football in the real world, only without queues to the bogs or the smell of half time burgers. A football equivalent? Winning the Premiership, FA Cup, League Cup and conquering Europe. Several times. Proving all the doubters wrong in the process.
