After a solid debut with last year's Club Football, Codemasters is lining up even more teams for the 2005 follow-up (new additions include Newcastle United and Marseille). Over 20 of Europe's finest clubs now have a game to truly call their own; each iteration is uniquely branded in its club's colours - right down to packaging, opening movies, and in-game menus.
This year's offerings are in great shape, with a new game engine powering things along nicely. The revamped animation system makes the action on the pitch more fluid and the controls more responsive. Player likenesses are even more uncanny than before and improved facial animations express the emotional highs and lows beautifully.
For moments when you need that extra edge, the new 'Precision Trigger' (or, if you prefer, the R2 button) will temporarily give you closer control of your player, giving you the chance to create a golden opportunity. Other flashy moves to get your head and fingers around include dummies, fakes and quick 135-degree passes.
