When all is said and done, Guilty Gear X2 #Reload establishes itself as one of the best fighters on the Xbox, if not one of the best ever created. It's the type of game newcomers can easily become accustomed to, as well as the type of fighter that offers a great amount of depth when mastered. It's an all around amazing package of gameplay, crisp 2d visuals and a killer heavy metal soundtrack. Reload is a must for fans of the fighting genre and one of the best fighters ever created.

Game Over Online
Guilty Gear XX#Reload may turn out to be the last truly great 2D fighting game. SNK's still out there and Sammy itself's still in the game, but #Reload, plain and simple, has it all. About the only thing I can say against it is that it's a bit laggy on Live. If you've ever enjoyed a fighting game, you should try to pick this up.

Guilty Gear scores an unlikely hat trick for the Xbox. Not only is it the best 2-D fighter available on the platform, it's also the strangest and, at a mere $20 bones, the cheapest. Now, stop thinking about soccer and concentrate, this is important. Bizarre characters like Faust, a homicidal surgeon wielding a giant scalpel and wearing a grocery bag on his head, and Bridget, a petite yo-yo-wielding nun, belie the incredibly intricate control system. Using words like belie and intricate make us feel like we deserve our GED.

Arc System Works' Guilty Gear X2 #Reload finally offers Xbox gamers a 2D fighting game worth celebrating. While previous Xbox efforts have provided some entertainment, all other 2D fighting ports seemed too aged and not fitting of Xbox's massive power. GGX2, while not an original title for Xbox, offers a solid framerate (even online), lush visuals, and an incredible amount of gameplay depth. Considering that it also retails for just $20, and it's clear that any fighting fan would do well to pick Guilty Gear up ASAP.

GameSpot
The bottom line is that this is one of the most highly evolved 2D fighting games yet--and not just from a gameplay standpoint, since Guilty Gear X2 #Reload is also among the first online-enabled home fighting games. That makes it very easy to recommend to any fan of the genre, except maybe for those who expressly dislike the game's anime-inspired character design. Considering all that it has to offer, and that it offers all this for just a fraction of a typical new game's retail price, Guilty Gear for the Xbox is a winner by a landslide.

Guilty Gear's unique style combines supernatural elements with the quirky world of anime. The worst part is the guitar rock soundtrack, which all sounds the same to me. The challenge never lets up, thanks to the wealth of playing modes, which include a story, mission, and "metal of millionaire" contest. I was initially disappointed that this Xbox version didn't offer anything new (except on-line play), but then I noticed two additional characters: an old man named Cliff and the heavily armored Justice. If you have the PS2 version don't bother, but Xbox fighting fanatics should snap this one up.

So, to sum up, the controller doesn’t cut it, but the game more than does. Gorgeous visuals, superb control, and buttery animation make Guilty Gear X2 # Reload: The Midnight Carnival a winner. Guilty Gear fans should step right up, as should any Xbox-owning 2D fighting fan, particularly if they have Xbox Live.

When you get down to it, #Reload doesn’t bring anything new to the table from the other GGX2 releases. It is simply a slightly more detailed version of a fighter that’s starting to show some of its age. But considering it has the meager cost of $20 (US) on its release, that’s a cheap investment and guarantees a lot of fun for almost any gamer out there. Fans of Sammy or the GG series should definitely pick this baby up, as the new features and unlockables make for a refreshing addition. New players to the series should pick it up if they have any interest in the fighter game genre, or just want to check out a well-made and unique piece of gaming.

G4 TV: X-Play
It might be a bit late to the party, but Guilty Gear X2 Reload is a welcome addition to the Xbox for fighting game fans. X-Play takes it online to find out who is the most bizarre of them all in this offbeat, smooth-as-silk, 2D fighter.

Stunning use of sprites on both the fighters and the backgrounds. Excellent character design combined with some visually appealing backgrounds make GGX2:Reload one of the best looking 2D games ever. With a few more frames of animation to smoothen the experience this could have been perfect.
Excellent 80's heavy metal soundtrack let down by some muffled sound effects and voice work.
Fast, frantic and very deep for both the casual and serious player. Each character plays very differently with huge scope for creating your own moves and combos.
A huge amount of options, over 20 fighters and online play. As far as fighting games go, this has some serious lifespan.
Essential for all fighting game fans, especially those who are looking for something a bit different.
