Judge Dredd scores a minor victory in its ability to let is roots show through amid the usual indistinguishable mess of guns and guts.

The level of detail and wealth of player-initiated options that went into judging criminals are both particularly impressive. Outside of this interesting play mechanic, the remainder of content can be summed up as a repetitious snoozefest that gives new meaning to generic FPS.

Ultimately, Dredd vs Death fulfils both hopes and fears in equal measure. It oozes character from every pore, yet bends rather than breaks the steadfast conventions of the FPS. For this reason, a partiality towards the Dredd franchise is not just a recommendation, but a practical requirement when playing the game. If the primary concern was whether Rebellion would stay faithful to the series, it must be karmic retribution that they’ve done it with such enthusiasm that the game itself has been compromised. Like the comic, Dredd vs Death was always set to be a game by the fans, for the fans; accordingly, only they can truly be the judge of its success.

There isn’t any middle ground when it comes to Judge Dredd: Dredd Versus Death. As far as an action title goes, it leaves much to be desired. Even for gamers looking for a shooter fix, there are better options already on the market. Awkward gameplay mechanics, sub par graphics, and bland audio keep this game from reaching any sort of potential. Hardcore Dredd fans will no doubt wanna check this title out, but it adds nothing new to the series. Instead of standing out amongst the pack, Dredd feels like it wants to be a little bit of Deus Ex, Halo, and Riddick rolled into one, while not succeeding at any of them.

Seuls les inconditionnels du comic book auront intérêt à se jeter sur cette adaptation Xbox qui se classe seulement parmi les FPS les plus moyens de la console. A oublier très vite.

As far as budget games go, Judge Dredd is standard fare. It's not embarrassingly bad, but you're better off waiting for your next paycheck (or maybe getting a payday loan) and then sinking the extra cash into any of the much better full-priced shooters readily available on all four platforms.

Dredd vs. Death emerges as no Halo 2 buster, nor is it even comparable to the original Halo. The truth here is this: the game should have been released two years ago as it was meant to. Hardcore comic fans might love the game, but for a casual gamer, it's an average offering in an already overcrowded genre. Judge Dredd: Dredd vs. Death is a decent game, with a few obvious flaws that can be overlooked if you're looking for another FPS to play and are tired of the standard Halo hype.

Fans of the fiction will finally appreciate a style that keeps the faith, but will wonder how this game could have done its source material the same sort of disservice the decade old movie did.

Below average, nothing that good really stands out, the part ofthis game that I really did not like was the fact that you couldn'tsave at all, if you had to leave for any reason and didn't finish yourlevel, to bad, when you come back to it your starting over. Bottom lineis if your really bored one night and just want to shoot things withyour Xbox what the hell go ahead and rent it, or better yet rent a goodWWII simulation, but I wouldn't recommend buying it after all there’sno law that says you have to.
