Midtown Madness 3 is one of the two current best racing games of the year in my opinion. As I mentioned, some are going to try to compare this game with Midnight Club 2. Resist that urge to compare them. There is room on the shelf for both these games, and they are different enough to warrant having them both. As far as this game goes, it has everything you could want in a racing game. Eye-popping graphics, soundtrack ripping, solid fun gameplay, and online racing. All of a sudden, the rest of the racing games in my collection just got moved to the back. Outstanding job Digital Illusions and Microsoft! Outstanding!

The real question on everyone's lips is whether Midtown Madness 3 is worth buying, and the answer is undoubtedly yes. It might not take as much effort to overcome or offer as much content as arcade stalwarts Midnight Club and Burnout, but neither game has the same depth online, and only hot seating Burnout's crash sections with a few friends can rival the Hollywood playground DICE has built here for sheer fun. What's more, with some room still for improvement, we're already looking forward to the inevitable follow-up.
Gaming Target
The large environments give Midtown Madness 3 some serious potential that isn’t put to the test until reaching Xbox Live. It’s not to say that the single player segment should be avoided, but offline players are going to have a much different take on the game compared to those with Xbox Live enabled consoles. Though developer shows signs of a kooky sense of humor in undercover mode and in the behind the scenes video, they didn’t go as far as renaming the game ‘EntireTown Madness only if on Xbox Live.’
If you love Xbox Live games, buy. If you like racing games, buy. If you like the idea of driving a MINI over the cobblestoned streets of Paris, buy. As a single player game alone, it's about an 8.0, but as a multiplayer game, it approaches the mid-nines. This is the most impressive first-party title since Rallisport Challenge, and it's well worth your well-earned dollars.

MM3 is worth the buy if you have Xbox Live but as a SP game it needed a far more developed career mode with less repetitive challenges. It offers a good selection of vehicles and they all have excellent handling characteristics and physics.
Make no mistake. The single player game is fun, but doesn't warrant a purchase. However, the same game on Xbox Live is the most entertaining game available for the service and will eat away your time for months to come. If you don't have Xbox Live, go and get it to make the most of what is one of the online games of the year.

The single player mode on "Midtown Madness 3" alone warrants a rental, but what makes the game well-worth shelling out fifty bucks is its Live capability. The networked multiplayer modes are infectiously fun, so much so that "Midtown Madness 3" not only gets the nod as my favorite of the current Live releases, but it ranks terrifyingly close to the top of the best XBox games to date, period. The online gameplay is strong enough that even if this is the only game you give a spin over Live, a year's subscription to the service is more than worth it. For the broadband-deficient, give it a rental, but for players with access to XBox Live or even for those mulling over taking their console online, "Midtown Madness 3" is exceptionally highly recommended.

Midtown Madness is a well rounded arcade style racer that can hold your attention for a while. The Xbox Live aspects are top notch, easy navigation and interesting and fun live modes. While the game isn’t overly technical it, gives you a few funny spots and a lot of fast city racing; with a variety of different vehicles. This game is worth the bucks, and if you have live I would strongly suggest Microsoft’s Midtown Madness 3.

Fortunately, a refreshing multiplayer showing overshadows the humdrum single-player game. Up to eight players can compete in fun games like tag, team battles, and simple races around the two cities. Playing MM3 on Xbox Live is definitely much better than playing alone. Take a trip around the block with this driver, but be sure you have Live hooked up for an exciting ride.
Besides Live, what really keeps this game fun is probably, believe it or not, its silly sense of humor. It's like a ridiculous 80s movie -- it's all a bit too contrived and cute for its own good, but it made me chuckle anyway. Possibly Steve Guttenberg was involved. At any rate, without this humorous core, MM3 would feel like another piece of shrinkwrapped meat; this wacky European humor gives it character. So few games are funny; even fewer are lighthearted, and it's nice. There are a few hiccups in MM3's execution, but the Live game will keep you coming back -- but if you don't have broadband, you might want to consider this one a turbocharged rental.
Make no mistake, Midtown Madness 3 is an online game. The single-player modes are simply run-of-the-mill checkpoint races that don't really add anything meaningful to the overall package. The online play really saves it, though, as the nice collection of modes and the ease with which you can jump into games or change cars as needed definitely put the focus on fun. Players looking for a terrific online racing game won't be disappointed.
Overall I would like to recommend this game for anyone with Xbox live; but those that I know that purchased this game to experience great one player fun will be sadly disappointed. With some Downloadable Content coming soon (rumored November), this game may find some new blood and attract new gamers to join the party. See me play sometime, maybe you’ll have the honor of losing to me!
While the games maps and graphics are well polished the substance just isn't there. If you're afraid of the GTA games for any reason, whether its because you don't believe in the violence or simply not old enough, this game will fill the void, but if you've ever played GTA - even for five minutes - then you likely to find Midtown Madness 3 both frustrating and limiting at the same time.

All in all Midtown does offer a different route in choosing a racing game but I'd stick to Midnight Club 2. The game is far more of an arcade adventure than a serious racing game, but for those of you who liked Crazy Taxi, there are some points that can be somewhat entertaining. The game needs more modes to choose from and new voice actors to be a real competitor though.
Game Informer Magazine
The scope of Midtown Madness 3 is most definitely impressive. Digital Illusions rendered two massive, breathing cityscapes where thousands of citizens roam the streets, traffic moves realistically, and lighting from different times of day is reflected perfectly onto every structure and object. The environments look fantastic, yet once gameplay commences all of the extravagance and onscreen glitz goes to waste. The entire game is structured in the vein of pizza delivery. From paper routes, limousine services, armored car transporting, and taxi work, your entire time with Midtown Madness 3 is spent transporting items from one point to another before time expires. If this sounds fun to you, I hear that Pizza Hut is hiring.
Adrenaline Vault, The (AVault)
The environments are simply enormous, with a great sense of scale. It takes some time to learn the layout of both cities, but after a few missions, things begin to look familiar, and you become immersed in the setting. The campaign doesn’t last very long though, and isn’t all that interesting to begin with. If you have Xbox Live, Midtown Madness 3 could make for a great addition to your library, as the online modes are fun, and playing against players of all skill levels presents a constantly varying challenge. If you don’t have Live, this one may not be everything that you’re looking for.
