Get ready for the return of a legendary fighting franchise in Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance for the Game Boy Advance and the Nintendo GameCube.
When Mortal Kombat debuted in 1992, it shocked gamers with cutting-edge graphics, fast action and brutal fatality moves. Now, Midway plans to introduce an all-new fighting engine to the Nintendo GameCube and Game Boy Advance.
Eleven characters, including Scorpion, Sonya, and Raiden, return from previous incarnations of Mortal Kombat. Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance will also introduce three new characters, new special moves, and a full range of 3D movement.
Each kombatant will have three unique fighting styles, including hand-to-hand and deadly-weapon combat, combined with progressive physical damage that culminates in humiliating new fatalities.
Midway also promises a mythologizing storyline that continues the series' supernatural mystique.

The arcade masters at Midway return to the drawing board with their fatality-laden fighting series and serve up Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance for the Nintendo GameCube.
Evil Krusade
Dark sorcerer Quan Chi forms a partnership (or dare I say, alliance?) with fellow soul-sucker Shang-Tsung in an attempt to rule the world. The Mortal Kombat fighting tournament brings together the strongest warriors from across time and space to decide the fate of mankind.
A grand total of 23 fighters have entered the tournament, each with distinct powers, fighting styles and allegiances. Each of the 3D polygonal characters features high resolution textures, superb animation and full range of movement.
Enter the 3rd Dimension
That's right. For the first time in the Mortal Kombat series, characters can now move sideways as well as forwards, backwards, up and down. This new spatial quality adds a tremendous amount of strategy to battles.
Also new is the ability to switch among three unique fighting styles on the fly. Two of the styles follow traditional (sometimes fictional) fighting styles while the third allows for powerful weapons fighting.
There are only a couple of minor drawbacks to fighting with weapons. Attack speed is practically dropped in half and you take more damage. But with practice, weapons fighters can deal serious damage.
The addition of 3D movement means new 3D arenas. Environments vary from icy arenas to underground temples. And these new locales aren't just for show: Stage-specific obstacles make life difficult for the kombatants. Aside from fending off enemy forays, players must also be wary of giant icicles, acid-spitting statues and energy barriers.
The fighting itself has also received several upgrades in the form of added combo variety, extended juggle attacks and bruises. In addition to the classic blood spurts, kombatants sport cuts and blemishes as the battle proceeds. And yes, the fan-favorite fatalities have returned with creative flair.
Road to Mastery
Mastering all of the new moves, techniques and fighting styles seems like a daunting task. However, thanks to the new Konquest Mode, novice and veteran Mortal Kombat players can get to grips with everything Deadly Alliance has to offer.
Completing Konquest Mode's 281 missions will help you learn the skills necessary to become a Mortal Kombat master. You'll also earn koins that will allow you to unlock new characters, costumes and items.
Flawless Victory
After taking a few ill-advised side-steps along the way (i.e. Mortal Kombat Mythologies), the Mortal Kombat series finally returns to doing what it does best: fighting! Gamers, prepare for the fight of your life with Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance.

Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance delivers the 2D fighting action that has made the series famous worldwide.
When Mortal Kombat debuted in 1992, it shocked gamers with cutting-edge graphics, fast action and brutal fatality moves. Now, Midway has introduced an all-new fighting engine that includes the ability to switch between two fighting styles with a press of the L Button.
The 12 fighters include longtime series stalwarts Scorpion, Sonya and Raiden and newcomers Kenshi and Frost.
Two players can fight head-to-head using two GBAs, a GBA Game Link cable and two Game Paks.
Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance has been a long time coming, and now it's time to, in the words of Scorpion, "Get over here!"
