That's right! Ferraris? Got 'em. Porsches? Yup! Koenigseggs? Hell yeah! In fact, our selection is so radical, you'll NEVER play another racer ever again! Not only that, we have over 100 of these cars! Over 100 tracks in the most beautiful and exotic cities on the planet! Each city has it's own characteristics, setting, and architecture! You'll feel like you're cruising earth!

Get Low, fool! We're a gonna bestow upon you CRAP! That's right! CRAP! Now what we wancha ta do is take yer crap, and turn it into (insert precious material) for your bitch Samantha! But don't worry. You'll have a bunch of hostile little mofo's helping you by insulting your car regardless how nice it looks! So have fun!!!

Now, you must be hiding in your room away from the world if you haven't heard of NFS, or this game, which won G4horia's racer of the year award. And while it ain't perfect by any stretch of anyone's imagination, I can see how it became a nominee.
Take a complete piece of crap and turn it into the ultimate cop-evading drag star, drift master, and city king. Oh, wait there are no cops. Why? Cuz the idiots at honda didn't want to see their precious, generic civics chased by cops. Boo fucking hoo. As retarded as this is, do we really think the game would be better with some idiot police force on your ass in event 111, thereby making it all but impossible?
You DO get a huge sense of speed in this game. You can easily differentiate between the worthless stock cars and my totally kick ass Skyline, the ugliest damn car you've ever seen... They decided to totally make it insane in the piss-your-pants-terrifying drag races, where the camera shakes, the scenery blurs and OH GOD I JUST TOTALLED MY CAR BECAUSE AN UNSEEN IDIOT DRIVER COULDN'T STOP IN TIME AND NOW WE'RE BOTH DEAD.
Mainly the sense, as awesome as it is, is basically formulated solely from impending cars and traffic signs rushing at you, and the occasional blisteringly fast opponent, in the non-drag races.
Then you have the infuriating drift races (oh come on please god stop sliding come on I have a 10,000 point combo get away from that wall ARGHHHH.) It's basically an exercise in belting out the powerslide button and showing your ridiculously gaudy rear bumper to the crowd.
The rest of the races are circuit races (pretty self explanatory) and sprint races (point A to B). You can always free run, too.
There are 111 events in GO UNDERGROUND mode. Me? Hell, I've beaten this game. Which somehow isn't doable by non-die-hard-racers? Well, I WAS racing on Easy, but that's not the point! Even on Easy, this game can be a bitch at times. But if you can make it past event 90 you're on your way to victory...
The Bad
The major problem I noticed in Underground was the brain-dead civilians. Never before have I become so enraged at the hands of idiots peddling along at 20 MPH who don't think they'll be hurt by a 220 MPH Skyline. Other than that, ALMOST worth the $50 tag.
The Bottom Line
The sequel comes out in November. Why the hell is this still $50? Oh, but yes it's well worth 2 or 3 rentals. Very enjoyable... if you're a great racer...
