Finally here is a Simpsons game that will appease both gamers and Simpsons fans. It might not unseat the mighty GTA franchise but for younger gamers who don't have to worry about excessive violence (it doesn't get any worse than a typical Itchy & Scratchy episode) this is perfect. It will also appeal to those old enough to enjoy the more mature titles, and to those who want to enjoy Simpsons humor that is much funnier than even the most recent seasons.

This is a solid game. Only minor things keep me from giving this a higher rating. It's a smile-making good time. There is so much to explore and experience, there is (almost) no end to the gaming fun. I played for hours at a stretch, yet I never got bored. I would start a mission, then get lost in some distraction side-adventure. I enjoyed probing back yards and streets looking for bounty and fun. Talking to the various neighbors and "enemies" was fun to do. I spent a LOT of time just listening to Barney on the sidewalk! I still can't believe he gave up drinking! If you need a fun escape from shooters and uniformed sports action, give this a try.

The Simpsons Hit & Run is very fun and very funny; it deftly satirizes Grand Theft Auto while being almost as entertaining, and even improves on several gameplay aspects of GTA (instant mission restarts, a superior guidance system, and an easily accessible collection of vehicles).

Simpsons Road Rage, which released around Christmas 2001 on all platforms, was a great way to show off Springfield in all its glory. It was essentially a Crazy Taxi clone in the Simpsons universe. This time, the powers that be picked a better game to mimic, in the form of Grand Theft Auto. The results are nothing short of astonishing. It’s nice to see Springfield get the respect it deserves.

Overall The Simpsons: Hit & Run is a great game. It could use a few more levels and Xbox Live support to download some extras and multi-player support. If you would be able to have more freedom in the buildings it would have been nice. These are minor things and overall The Simpsons: Hit & Run is a very fun and enjoyable game.

The best thing about this title is that it was clearly made for the fans of the show. This game (much like this review) is chock full of Simpsons references. Aside from all of the background stuff, the costumes and the vehicles, there are gags added into every level (like the catapult that shot Rex Banner out of town), and cards to collect. That's right, scattered across each stage are cards that, once collected, show an item of Simpsons history, including the episode it was found in, and memorable quotes about the item (for example, the Krusty Home Pregnancy Test). You may want to rent it first, just to make sure its not something you're going to get sick of really quick.

Hit & Run is the game that Simpsons fans have been pining for ever since the days of Bart vs. The Space Mutants. It creates the most accurate representation of the world of Springfield ever put into a game, and it manages to make the gameplay surrounding it quite a lot of fun. Additionally, the game's overall sense of humor is delightfully self-referential, and any hardcore Simpsons enthusiast should have a blast exploring the various levels and pointing out the numerous obscure locations and characters that pop up.

Game Over Online
While it's not perfect, The Simpsons: Hit and Run is easily the greatest Simpsons game that's been released. A solid script, good gameplay and a huge dose of humor makes this game stand out as a nice platformer. Unfortunately, technical issues prevent this game from truly standing out as exceptional. But, if you're a fan of this long running show, you owe it to yourself to pick up and play this game.

There’s enough gameplay variety in here to keep things interesting. The humor, while aimed at the fans that watch the show religiously, is widely accessible. While not a perfect game, it does appear that the game Simpsons fans have been waiting for has arrived.

Insgesamt eine gelungene Comic-Umsetzung, die vor allem den beinharten Fans der kleinen gelben Wichte voll gerecht wird - zugreifen und Spaß haben!

Well, I think I’m gonna go ahead and give this game a final rating of 8, but don’t let that fool you. Don’t run out and buy this one unless you’re a hardcore Simpsons fan. Rent it first. If you still love it after 3 days, then buy it.

It's almost impossible not to love, or at least passionately admire, The Simpsons Hit & Run. In the case of their tragic videogame history (minus the mind-numbingly addictive arcade game of early '90s fame), this one finally stops the hurt.

The Next Level
Clearly, Simpsons: Hit & Run is an exception to the rule. A game that’s this unoriginal and average when it comes to the actual gameplay shouldn’t be this fun to experience, but it is. You’ll find yourself wanting to progress into the game just to see how the story unfolds, and not because you’re actually having fun driving around to collect 20 monkeys scattered across Springfield. What Hit & Run lacks in design, it more than makes up for in presentation and story telling. The voice actors are at their full potential in this game, and the writing is hilarious. Fans of the show will definitely want to check this game out, and for those who wouldn’t mind running over Marge with your family Sedan car, you ought to pick it up too!

With a bit more polish, it could've been a surefire winner. Regardless, it's fun for any age and an absolute must-have for Simpsons fans.

When all is said and done, Simpsons Hit and Run is an awesome concept that doesn't quite live up to its potential. Still, fans of the show will really enjoy immersing themselves in this colorful virtual world.
