Spider-Man: The Movie

Spiderman would be the ultimate game if not for one problem - the camera. I've played a lot of 3D adventures, but I could never get a handle on the camera in this game. The right joystick can be used to adjust it, but it always seems to go the opposite way I would expect it to. When the angle changes automatically, you often end up heading in the wrong direction. In addition, the shortcomings of the XBox controller are made evident by this game. You need to hit combinations of the top buttons, and it can be tough to tell those little bumps apart in the heat of the action. If not for the additional two levels that the XBox version has, I would have went with the PS2 version. But overall, I am extremely impressed with Spiderman. As of this writing, it's probably the best superhero game ever made.

If you’ve ever wanted to be Spider-man, there’s no better opportunity. This game has it all, from clean, impressive graphics (in-game and cutscene) to unparalled control over the character, and everything in between. Comprising some 20 missions, the game should take around 15-18 hours to complete and the replay value is fairly high (most of the missions are great fun). Treyarch has realized a tremendous city for Spidey to roam in and balanced the play mechanics well. Despite a need to baby-sit the camera, the good far outweighs the bad in this title and it should be welcomed as an excellent addition to the Xbox library. While battling the Vulture the other night in the pouring rain, 100 stories above the streets, I realized that Treyarch had captured the most important element of being Spider-man….the power to soar, without fear, to dizzying heights…..and crack a few jokes while you’re there. Take the Webslinger for a spin ….you won’t regret it.

You knew it was only a matter of time before someone came along and made the ultimate Spider-Man game. Buck up, true believers?this is about as close as it gets.

For a Spider-man fan, this is a title that cannot be resisted. There are some drawbacks to the game, which may turn off the average player who is not a Spidey fan. Counter that, though, with solid animation, more than its share of action, a great storyline and terrific voice acting, and you have a game that is a winner.

Personally, I found myself enthralled with the video game, so much so that I pulled a couple of all-nighters going through the game over and over again and noticing new details each and every time. The combo and reward points systems are great additions to the series, and the tighter control scheme makes wall crawling unbelievably fun. Any comic book fan, fan of the movie, or gamer should swing their way to their friendly neighborhood game store and pick up a copy of this game. You won't regret it.

I love the fact that every Spider-Man ability I could ever want has been included in this game. You get the sense that you're operating through a standard third person adventure game, but you get the benefits that come with spider-related powers. The outdoor segments are outstanding and gave me the chance to do somethings that I've always wanted to do in a videogame. You can watch Spider-Man in the movie and read about him in books, but Treyarch has delivered the only way to control Spider-Man and have him do everything you know he's capable of…and they made it look good.

Activision has had its hand in Spider-Man’s webbing for several years now and has proven time and time again that it knows how to create a stellar game that is faithful to this license. Of course, the Spider-Man motion picture is an entirely different beast than the lighthearted comic adventures. Certainly, Activision could have forged a game that follows the film’s story verbatim. I highly doubt, however, that gamers would’ve enjoyed having an emotional heart to heart with Aunt May, or having to attend school every day. Rather than experimenting with a newfangled formula, Activision and developer Treyarch stuck with their guns and developed a game that complements its existing stable of Spider-Man games.

Le gameplay de Spider-Man : The Movie est une totale réussite que seule une difficulté trop importante vient quelque peu entacher. Les graphismes sont impressionnants et dans la veine du film, on en prend plein les yeux à chaque niveau grâce à des environnements particulièrement soignés et des animations fluides et détaillées.

Die Sorge, dass hier wieder einmal eine namhafte Lizenz verschossen wird, hat sich glücklicherweise nicht bestätigt. Denn Treyarch hat es geschafft, sowohl den Geist des Filmes einzufangen als auch das Gameplay optimal auf den großen Namen einzustimmen. Kleinere und größere Probleme mit der Kamera nimmt man stillschweigend in Kauf und genießt das clevere Leveldesign, das die sich mittelfristig wiederholenden Spiel-Elemente weitestgehend auffangen kann. Fans des Filmes und von Spider-Man an sich werden sich freuen, mit ihrem Helden durch die Hochhausschluchten schwingen zu können. Alle anderen können sich an der in sich stimmigen Grafik und Sounduntermalung freuen, die jedoch kleinere Schwächen hier und da offenbaren. Kein Must-Have, aber gelungene Unterhaltung.

Spider-Man the Movie is not simply one of the best superhero and movie-based games out there, but also a great third-person action adventure. It's recommendable even to gamers who aren't comic fans, and the Xbox version is definitely the best of the bunch. Good graphics, fun gameplay and acceptable control make the Xbox version of Spider-Man an excellent game for Spider-Man and 3D platform fans alike.

If you are fan of Spider-Man or want a sort of preview of what the movie will look like, then this game is definitely for you. Whether you are just coming to see the movie or you're interested in a great action game, this is worth the rent if not worth buying right away.

Spider-Man: The Movie is a good game based on, at last, a good superhero movie. Though the gameplay is contrived and the story is one you comic fans have heard a million times, it all manages to be more fun than it should just based on letting you romp around as the famous Web-Slinger.

The Movie is really two Spider-Man games. The outdoor levels are so much more fun and enjoyable than the indoor levels--so much that the game could have been much better had there simply been more of the former and less of the latter. To be fair, some of the indoor missions are entertaining in their own right. And even despite the camera problems and some of the other issues, most players will probably enjoy playing what ultimately turns out to be a graphically superior version of the PlayStation and Dreamcast Spider-Man games, which faithfully captured the superhero's moves and antics to begin with.
