A stellar and mood-defining sound environment, excellent voice work, gorgeous lighting, and a slow-to-build but page-turning story fuel Deadly Shadows to great effect, and it's also fairly long and involved 8.6/10 IGN.com
Ion Storm really came through with this game, keeping the spirit of the series intact, and yet expanding on the game’s design to create something different and rewarding without rehashing the same tired stealth clichés over again. Though far from flawless, Thief: Deadly Shadows is a magnificent game that breathes a bit of fresh air into the stealth action genre. It’s got impressive graphics, ambient sound, immersive gameplay, and an intriguing story that is truly deserving of praise 9.0/10 www.gamingworldx.com
The gameplay in Deadly Shadows is great stealth action. You don’t have a lot of tools at your disposal, so instead you must utilize your brain in order to progress through the missions. The AI has been greatly improved from its predecessors, requiring you to use even more thought to get around guards and other characters in the game. Deadly Shadows is a great game, one that provides the next step in the evolution of the Thief series and won’t disappoint fans of either its predecessors or the stealth genre in general. 9/10 Gamezone.com
Thief: Deadly Shadows marks the welcome return of Garrett and while a few years have passed, Garrett's moves are as sharp as ever. Excellent story, sound and voice-overs, good level design for linear missions, great lighting effects. 8/10 Gamespy.com
the results of the effort that went into Deadly Shadows are admirable and respectable, for the most part, and they're ultimately well worth experiencing by Thief fans or by those who are sick of or those who may just be jealous of hearing about Thief fans. After all, the game could very well make one out of you. 8.3/10 Gamespot.com
Even though Thief: Deadly Shadow lacks more polish in certain areas, and especially in the AI department, the fact remains that this is one very enjoyable and immersive PC game with plenty to offer to the fans of the series. The background story is great, the fantasy world is rich and enthralling, and the ability to explore the open-ended environment during intense and fun missions will certainly have you playing this one till you've finished it. Again, the third-person view is a non-issue and if you crank up the difficulty level to hard and endure some silly AI issues, I'm sure you'll have a blast playing this game. But…buy it - don't steal it. Garrett may be a master thief, but you're not. 84/10 Actiontrip.com
Thief: Deadly Shadows lives up mightily to the legendary Thief franchise. While it doesn’t set any brave new standards, it maintains all the things that made Thief great in the first place. Even though some of Ion’s design decisions, like the removal of the rope arrow and the inclusion of the third-person camera, will disappoint purists, it would be difficult for anyone to deny what a splendid experience this release is. Deadly Shadows is truly stealth action at its current zenith. 4.5/5 Avault.com
Some games grab you and bring you firmly into their world. With its dynamic lighting, great physics, and reactive world, Ion Storm’s Deus Ex: Invisible War was one of those games, and we thought it was one of the best games last year. As awesome as it was, though, it’s now clear that Invisible War was more than just a great game: It was a dress rehearsal for Thief: Deadly Shadows. 5/5 gamepro magazine.com
The stealth play in Deadly Shadows is better than it has ever been in the thief series, and this is largely down to some amazing AI Hyper Magazine
