Summit Strike is a must-own game for any Clancy veteran, especially if you have already played and enjoyed Ghost Recon 2. There is just nothing quite like it on a console and I can’t wait to see what’s in store for us when Ghost Recon 3 hits the Xbox 360 later this year.

Is it worth it? Yes. A big resounding ‘Yes’ to be honest. While it’s harder than the previous title it certainly has enough new content to make it a worthwhile purchase if you liked the first game. The new weapons, content and environments continue the story and pave the way for the next instalment. Most of the problems that plagued the previous game have been dealt with and the AI has been certainly sharpened, the whole experience plays about the same as Ghost Recon 2 however and the harder level of difficulty will put a few people off, but not the hardcore fans of the series.

GR2 was a good game, and Red Storm has done great work with improving upon it in Summit Strike. Although it is a game for tactical, patient players, there are still enough big booms and explosions to keep thing exciting. And besides, who doesn't like being yelled at in Kazakh while suppressing local forces?

Ghost Recon 2: Summit Strike is a great addition to the Ghost Recon and Tom Clancy libraries. If you're a fan of the previous games, you'll be impressed by all the new stuff thrown in to this expansion. And, if you've never experienced Ghost Recon before, this is a perfect place to jump into the action. Summit Strike is better than most games that are twice its price, and it should appease most gamers until Ghost Recon 3 hits the Xbox 360 later this year.

However as a multiplayer game it really is rather stunning. It's the best realistic shooter on Xbox Live and it's only real rival might be the forthcoming Operation Flashpoint Elite, which may steal some of it's thunder. But until then, this is the place to come for excellent online military antics.

Ghost Recon 2: Summit Strike comes close to outshining the main game in certain aspects and should be considered a 'Must Buy' for loyal followers of the franchise. With a variety of Xbox Live modes, maps and a robust single-player mode, you cannot go wrong with a purchase.

If you long for the hard core military goodness of the original Ghost Recon you should perhaps mourn its passing and embrace the future of the franchise. Summit Strike is the best value for money title currently available on Xbox. It won't hand your arse to you in a paper bag but will still provide a challenge for the hardened gamer, even if the AI is a little buggy. Don't be scared off by the third-person perspective as the first-person view is still there in all its glory and available for use if you are that way inclined. The graphics and sound are some of the best on Xbox and should prime your skills in preparation for the incredible looking Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter expected to launch with the Xbox 360. I'm converted, you could be too.

Anyone who has picked up either of the first Ghost Recon titles should already be planning on a trip to the store to score themselves another great game in Ghost Recon 2 Summit Strike. For the rest of you, this is your chance to get a great look at one of Ubisoft’s most popular franchises without breaking your bank. It’s quite clear that Ubisoft is out to get as many Ghost Recon fans as they can before the release of the next-generation Xbox and their next edition of the series and with a standalone expansion to the latest Ghost release it’s definitely hard to pass up. Whether you are looking for some great single player combat, cooperative gameplay or a ton of detailed multiplayer modes, Ghost Recon 2 Summit Strike has something to offer everyone and it will only set you back thirty bucks to join in on the action.

Everything about Ghost Recon 2 Summit Strike has been lifted from Ghost Recon 2 and improved upon. If you were a fan of GR2 or any military shooter this is a must buy. Also, if you are a fan of any shooter on XBL then this is definitely worthy of your time and money, but if you don't fall into one of those three categories you might want to wait until Ghost Recon 3 for Xbox 360.

Overall, I was really impressed with what Ubisoft and Red Storm were able to put together with Summit Strike. Unlike a lot of add-ons that are slim on content, Summit Strike provides the gamer with more material than most standard games nowadays. They have really done a great job on the expansion, and fans of the series should pick this up right away. People who have always been somewhat interested in the series but never wanted to spend 50 bones should take a hard look at Summit Strike. For only $29.99, you won't find a better or more complete online experience for Xbox.

But after having spent the entire night slogging though the 11 missions here, I've realized the series' attraction. The gameplay is deliberate, methodical, and realistic. Red Storm's attention to militaristic detail -- from your character's heavy breathing and the clank and clatter of gear while you run, to the simple animations of switching from a rifle to a bazooka -- is convincing. The wide open fields, mountain with numerous trails, and the multi-path urban centers, all provide that mix of choice and danger. The large landscapes offer the freedom to take any direction, but the terrain is filled with enemy squads that are quick to drop, find cover, and scramble away to fight again some other day. The whole thing smacks of the ritual and methodical nature of militaristic practices. It's got it own kind of brilliance that I've come to admire and respect. It's the kind of game that grows on you, and along with GR2, it's entirely different than anything else on Xbox.

Summit Strike is a welcome addition to the Ghost Recon series and although does not address some of the issues that I had contention with in the previous game such as poor AI at times and lack of true control over team mates it does provide an excellent combat experience that is unmatched on Xbox. Yes, I found some of the trial and error moments in the campaign to be a little cheesy but overall my playing experience was enjoyable and totally immersive. The new modes are fun and challenging as are the old ones and once again will no doubt make this a popular choice for the Xbox Live gamer. Those without Live should also think about getting this game because as previously stated there is enough content here to keep you happy (especially with the budget price). Smooth graphics, smooth control, great sound and plenty of modes means that Summit Strike is well worth the price of entry for all you serious and perhaps non serious military gamers.

In conclusion then, Ubisoft has taken the excellent Ghost Recon 2 game and made it even better. More maps, more modes, more guns, and a few welcome gameplay additions add another level of polish to a game many players have fallen in love with. For fans of the series, this one is a no-brainer. For those wondering what the fuss is all about, and are looking for a great online game that doesn’t happen to be Halo 2, you could not find a better introduction to the series than Summit Strike. For the price of an expansion pack, Ubisoft has delivered a full-featured game that outshines its predecessor, and has clearly proven that they listen to the fans and are willing to take suggestions. To me, that is the biggest selling feature of all.

Game Over Online
When Rahil and his army have been thwarted and the campaign comes to a close, one thing is for certain, Summit Strike is good value for your money. At $29.99 USD, almost half the cost of Ghost Recon 2, Summit Strike offers a new 11-mission campaign, 24 multiplayer maps, 24 multiplayer game types, and a handful of new weapons and multiplayer skins. What more could you ask for? So despite the shaky friendly AI, the Ghost Recon series continues to be one of the best squad-based shooters available for the Xbox. If you're at all a fan, you're doing yourself a disservice by not enrolling in the Ghost's latest campaign.

Game Critics
While the Rainbow Six series has disappointly compromised the realistic approach that was once its calling card, the Ghost Recon series remains planted firmly in its one-hit-kill, tactical-action roots and, with Summit Strike, reaffirms its place at the top of the tactical shooter hill.

In typical Clancy fashion, we get another expansion pack to tide us over until the next big sequel hits. If you liked Ghost Recon 2, pick up Summit Strike. If you're tired of Halo 2, pick up Summit Strike. It's a title that should appeal to any Xbox Live gamer. If you lack the online service, then Summit Strike is a rental at best, unless you have a group of friends you LAN with.

Ghost Recon 2: Summit Strike doesn’t just add some new modes, maps, and eye candy; it actually improves its gameplay formula, making it an all around better game than Ghost Recon 2. The amount of depth this game possesses is incredible. It has some flaws, such as mediocre audio and occasionally repetitive gameplay, but it more than makes up for its minor shortcomings with its extremely well-executed approach. The control layout is superb, the graphics are first-class, and it’s about half the price of a new Xbox game. You simply cannot go wrong with Ghost Recon 2: Summit Strike.

It may be clear: if you loved Ghost Recon 2, you'll also love this expansion pack (for which you don't need the original game). For a budget price you get a top title that offers a multiplayer campaign, tons of multiplayer possibilities and more of the same tactical shooter fun. On top of that, the gameplay and graphics of Summit Strike have been polished up compared to its predecessor so that you get a lot of your money. Awaiting Advanced Warfighter on Xbox360, this title is more than a sweetener!

With a solid presentation, a versatile multiplayer element, and a compelling single-player campaign, Ghost Recon 2 Summit Strike is just about everything you could want in a Ghost Recon 2 expansion pack. More maps, more missions, more stuff to shoot, and at a reduced price to boot. Summit Strike should definitely keep Ghost Recon fans happy and busy while they wait on the next-gen version.

It's a shame that Red Storm didn't turn some of its formidable development talents toward fixing the defective enemy AI. With that problem attended to, this could have been a truly outstanding game. As long as you go into Summit Strike knowing that online is the only real draw of the title, though, there's little to complain about.

Daily Game
Summit Strike is a great looking game with likewise great sound, there's no doubt about that. Every little detail (well, except for the foliage) is well detailed and lifelike. Player characters actually load their weapons like a real soldier would, bullets tear up the terrain and rockets make a suitable boom when they hit a target. The dialog can get tiring, but there's enough variety in it to keep you from wanting to kill your speakers at any point. Summit Strike's variety of missions and online gameplay modes make up for most of the bugs in the game, and well-worth checking out for $29.99 (US). If, however, you're one of the hardcores who hated Ghost Recon 2 for its gameplay changes, you might as well skip this expansion.

Should you upgrade to the expansion of Summit Strike? Well, that depends on what you're looking for. For someone who skipped over the original GR2, then yes, having the new touches that this version of the series brings is a nice change from the slightly blocky looking and view limiting Ghost Recon. But for people who played GR2, is this worth upgrading? Some of the multiplayer maps from GR2 are included on Summit Strike, but you also get some new ones to help keep things fresh. So if you love the multiplayer aspect and would kill to get on some new maps, then yes perhaps the $29.99 price tag would do you well. For people sick of the run & gun action of standard FP shooters out there, giving GR2 Summit Strike a chance would be a nice change from the hectic fast paced games you might be used to, and who knows you might enjoy yourself. Recommended.

G4 TV: X-Play
Although Summit Strike still boils down to more of the same, the Ghost Recon 2 series has proven itself to provide some of best squad-based, realistic action out there. For a budget price, this latest mission for the Ghosts provides plenty of thrills, action, and multiplayer fun. For fans of Doom 3, Serious Sam, and similar games, it might be too bent on realism, but just the same, this is a great shooter with truly laudable multiplayer options.

Eurogamer.net (UK)
Considering Summit Strike is only pitched as a budget-priced expansion pack to last year's 'full-blown' version, Ubisoft has done an exceptional job of providing nigh-on top draw entertainment with literally no compromises. Sure, it may be a couple of missions short of what most games of this ilk offer, but for the price you won't be complaining. Whether you're here for the single-player campaign or fancy engaging in some of the best Xbox Live entertainment around, Summit Strike thumbs its nose at the very concept of the full priced release in offering exceptional value for money. For the price, you'd be mad to miss out.

It's also worth remembering that this isn't a game for everybody. If you're after a fast-paced, bloody experience, then you'd be best advised to snap up a Halo or Timesplitters title. But if, like us, you like the thought of lying on your belly in long grass (sometimes for minutes at a time) and then springing out to lodge a well-aimed bullet in the head of some poor unsuspecting fool, then there's not many games that will simulate that unique pleasure better than this. Quite simply, being sneaky hasn't felt so rewarding in ages.

On apprécie.

To be fair, some of the new online game types are pretty cool, but your really need this new release about as much as the world needs an Airwolf film. Sure, there are a few updates, but it's really the same old thing in a brand new box.

Gaming Age
I'll be perfectly honest; I am not and probably never will be a big fan of any first person shooter, but I can appreciate a good game when I play it. Ghost Recon has always had this feeling of intensity that sucks you into the game's environment. It's that edge of your seat, "I think someone is staring at me down their scope right now," kind of feeling that makes it so enjoyable. It's a little disheartening that there can be so much trial and error involved in the single-player missions, but it's nothing new. It's great to see expansions working on consoles where you don't have to own the original to play, and you still get a full helping of gameplay for only $29.99.

Entertainment Depot, The
This being the fourth Ghost Recon title on the Xbox, it’s the departure of the sequel that keeps the series from becoming too stagnant and Summit Strike from a bore. For those who missed the sequel, the multiplayer serves as an enjoyable wrap-up, but for those who have put in countless hours into Ghost Recon 2, Summit Strike is hard to recommend. On its own, it stands as an enjoyable title, but fans will need to be pretty ardent for another go-around so soon.

Xbox Gazette

Game Shark
The game is looking to be more open-ended in how missions are handled, so you can choose to lay out your attack by using the map of the area any way you want to, completing objectives in any order you choose. With the new single player storyline that the expansion adds, the improved graphics and the sizeable multiplayer additions, it really could have been released as the next full game in the series. All in all, with a price of $29.99, Ghost Recon 2: Summit Strike has a few flaws and annoyances that can be over looked for the punch it packs.
