Solid but basic gameplay is all well and good, but Alien Hominid wouldn’t be where it’s at today without some amazing artistry. It is really Dan Paladin’s creativity and skill as an artist that makes you want to continue on in Alien Hominid, not necessarily the gameplay. As the mind of Schafer pushed us further and further into Psychonauts, Paladin’s artful usage of basic geometry, colors, and 2D depth-of-field is leagues above others who have tried the same thing.

Even with the possibility of getting the save-wiping bug, Alien Hominid HD is a fantastic game. It's a perfect example of a game that can (and should) flourish under the auspices of a widely used digital-distribution system. And on top of all that, it's available for $10, or 800 points. That's a great value for your dollar, and this is a game you should most definitely check out.

At 800 Microsoft Points ($10 USD), deciding whether to download and give Alien Hominid a shot is an easy choice. This game is such an excellent fit for the Xbox Live Arcade that you'll want to try out the demo at the very least, even if shooters aren't your cup of tea. The game oozes style and humor out of every wound the alien leaves in his wake of destruction. It's hardcore on the level that may discourage some, but it has the most important quality a game can have as well: It's fun.

If you’re like me and you’ve been playing Alien Hominid for a few years already, then Alien Hominid HD is kind of like somebody made a great movie based on one of your favorite books. The gameplay is as smooth as ever, but the graphical improvements really make it jump off the screen. With the extra content, online play, and not to mention the chance to win a real trophy, it’s pretty much a must-have game. The price is nice at 800 MS points, and the challenge here is sure to keep you coming back for more.

Gaming Target
Alien Hominid HD is one of the better Xbox Live Arcade games to come along in some time, and it is quite a value at 800 MS points. The game presents itself extremely well, and the action is both intense and enjoyable. The only drawbacks are the lack of online co-op and the excessive challenge (this will only bother some), but even the co-op might be patched with a download in the future. If you enjoy action games (especially those of the side-scrolling variety), you should definitely download this title.

Game Chronicles
While Alien Hominid HD might not be as fresh and new to us as say - Assault Heroes or Cloning Clyde, especially since it started its life so many years ago on the Internet and last-gen consoles. It still offers gamers what I believe every XBLA title should offer. A reasonably new and unique experience with it’s own sense of style. Sure, it’s not a brand-spankin’ new game, but then it was never a mainstream game either. It wasn’t something that had become synonymous in pop-culture like say… Pac-man, and presented to us for the um-teenth time with another price tag attached to it.

A animação é fantástica.

There is no doubting that Alien Hominid HD is one of the most challenging and difficult games you will ever play, but that is an integral part of its charm. The hand-drawn cartoon style visuals are at once beautiful and hilariously violent, and the extensive range of mini-games makes this a value-laden package. And at around $13 it's a fraction of the price it was at retail on Xbox, which makes buying this a real no-brainer. So stop complaining about the dearth of quality Live Arcade releases and grab Alien Hominid HD!

Alien Hominid HD stellt für Spieleliebhaber der actionreichen Kost ein absolute Muss dar. Der Preis von 800 Microsoft Points ist bei dem witzigen Gameplay und den zusätzlichen Inhalten absolut in Ordnung.

If Alien Hominid is destined to leave any lasting legacy, it will almost certainly be on your carpal tunnels. Few games of late have required such a concerted dedication to pure blasting, and few have ever provided such a visual feast, either. Earlier this year, the latter levels of Heavy Weapon certainly reignited our bug-eyed appreciation for rapid fire thrills, and this is even better way to ruin a joypad. After a stop-start year so far for Xbox Live Arcade, this is a welcome inclusion, and well worth checking out. For the price, it'd be rude not to.

Those who have yet to discover Alien Hominid can do no wrong with picking this up off of the Xbox Live Arcade. It’s quirky, it’s funny, and it’s challenging. It’s everything a side-scrolling shooter should be. But for those who have already enjoyed the ride on the PS2 or Gamecube, it’s hard to recommended that you pick it up again without online co-operative on the story mode.

Alien Hominid HD almost makes us want to cry. Maybe it's because a game we've been looking forward too has turned out to be incredibly average or perhaps it's because we've very rarely been this overcome by a games unfair difficulty. Either way, it may be best to save your Microsoft points and purchase Worms. Now that's guaranteed to be a far more fun experience.
