Description

In The First Templar the player takes the role of the French templar Celian of Aristide, who is on his life-quest to find the Holy Grail. During the course of the story, he also has to deal with other plot entanglements like a Saracen invasion and a big conspiracy against the templar order.

This game is designed for co-op play which means that the protagonist always fights together with a comrade (AI or another player), mostly Celian's daughter Marie. Most time is spend in melee fights against multiple enemies, in which the player has basically three moves at his disposal: a standard attack, blocking and a special attack which takes up "fervor" energy. The (single) player always has the opportunity to switch between the two characters, but this is only necessary when solving the few co-op based puzzles. In addition to the fighting sequences there are also trap courses and unforced stealth sections.

In every level there is a main goal and three bonus missions, which offer rewards like experience points and armor/weapon parts. The first are used to improve Celian's abilities and unlock new moves; the latter give new equipment.
