Lara Croft Tomb Raider: Legend

The game's exotic music soundtrack is understated but effective, and the dialogue is outstanding. Unlike the mindless drivel of most games, Legend features first-rate voice acting with clever banter between Lara and her cohorts. I actually cracked up a few times listening to some of more funny lines. The game runs about 10-12 hours, which is long enough to get your money's worth, but short enough that you can actually finish the thing (people with real jobs know what I mean). Polished, fun, and madly addictive, Legend is easily the most satisfying Tomb Raider game since the series debut on the Playstation in 1996.

Whether this is your first or ninth adventure with Lara, it is one you won’t soon forget. With perfect controls, intuitive gameplay, stunning graphics, majestic music, and a totally engaging story, this is the type of adventure game Legends are made of.

After unfulfilled promises with Tomb Raider Angel of Darkness and the state of the franchise after its release, it was hard to trust Eidos when they said the next Tomb Raider would correct the mistakes of the past by being developed by the talented folks at Crystal Dynamics. Usually taking a franchise away from its creators is not a good thing but in this case it was the best thing to ever happen to the franchise. Lara Croft is back and better then ever before. Tomb Raider Legend makes up for the past failures and pushes the franchise into the 21st century and into the right direction. The title feels like a true evolution of the original formula and brings back everything that made the franchise great in the first place.

In some circles, Tomb Raider has become a joke. What was once a prized and praised franchise in its early years now evokes healthy skepticism, even from some of its fans. Thankfully, Lara's latest adventure is in good shape to reset perceptions for those still willing to give her a chance. Sporting a totally redesigned control scheme, for the first time a Tomb Raider game feels natural and intuitive. Even more importantly, this newest entry in the series brings back the adventure and awe that made those early games so exciting. Tomb raiding is fun again.

Tomb Raider Legend is a shot in the bullseye. The makers succeeded to completely bring the original gamepay up to date, refresh it and add a ton of variation to it. Eventhough this killed off lone and long explorations, you constantly get clues through your headset from a colleague, these decisions made that Lara is completely back.

After suffering a bone-shattering fall from grace, the spunk has finally returned to this spelunker's step. Tomb Raider: Legend rekindles the thrill of adventure and sense of discovery that once made this series a juggernaut. Masterfully crafted architecture and lushly detailed landscapes fill your eyes with wonder. Your brain will twist over the ingenious physics-based puzzles.

When all is said and done, this is the Tomb Raider experience that fans have been craving since the series faltered: platforming action mixed with intense firefights and grand puzzles. For anyone looking for some quality next-gen platforming should not overlook this title, look past a couple of slight flaws ,and we're left with an experience that rivals that of the first Tomb Raider.

Fans of the Tomb Raider series will definitely not be disappointed, with Legends going back to the roots of the classic Tomb Raiders. The story is a bit on the short side, but the number of secrets and hidden items will have you going back to try and explore every last inch of the levels. If your after a game that's requires a little bit of brainpower then you cant go wrong with Tomb Raider: Legend's mix of puzzles and action.

If Eidos' goal was to get Tomb Raider back on track, they did far more than that. While most other Tomb Raider games are fatally flawed in more than one way, Legend manages to diminish the negatives of the past while exemplifying why Lara is still relevant. In one attempt, Lara Croft manages to remain a prolific female protagonist in the industry. Instead of uncovering a worthless relic, Eidos discovered Excalibur with Tomb Raider Legend.

Tomb Raider Legend really has brought the series back from imminent death and revitalized Lara for perhaps a new generation of gamers. As mentioned before I never got the whole Tomb Raider thing but this game has changed my mind. Tomb Raider Legend is a brilliant game that no 360 gamer should ignore, and with a demo available on marketplace for free, there really is no excuse.

In summing up Tomb Raider: Legends has ticked all the boxes in my book and Lara certainly is back at her best. Slight camera controls mar the experience and can leave you falling to your death because you had got the jump wrong, the motorbike levels could have been left out and the swimming could have been done better - but all in all putting the niggles to one side; Legends is an amazing game to play and you really do need to see it to believe it. So get your best tight shorts on and grab ya torch, because you have a tomb to raid peeps…and one you are going to love exploring. Tomb Raider and Lara Croft are back, and back with a bang!

Anyone who loves Lara Croft (some of you know what I mean) or like action/adventure games, you really can't go wrong with "Tomb Raider: Legend" for Xbox360 and PSP. “Angel of Darkness” scared a lot of us into thinking it was all over for our dream girl, but developer 'Crystal Dynamics' really did a great job with this total new game. They have developed it for a whole new generation of fans to enjoy while also pleasing the hardcore crowd. With tight controls, great gameplay, and some extra goodies, Lara is definitely back! And believe us, we couldn’t be more happy !

When Eidos announced they were taking Lara away from her creators at Core, it smacked of a desperate, last-ditch attempt to get a bit more mileage out of the publisher’s only true cash cow. But then Crystal Dynamics goes and creates a game that arguably exceeds the quality of the original Tomb Raider, and all of a sudden we have a viable series on our hands. Fans should be ecstatic over Tomb Raider Legend. Hopefully this time around, Eidos won’t sacrifice quality for yearly sequels.

So adventurers step this way. With perfectly executed controls, combat and design, Tomb Raider - Legend is a must buy.

On appréciera ou non la facilité d'ensemble ainsi que les quelques ellipses narratives ou de progression mais au final, c'est bel et bien la détermination des développeurs à aller de l'avant qui ressort le plus et rien que pour ça, le titre de Crystal mérite le respect.

It's been almost 10 years since the first Tomb Raider was released, and while video games have come a long way since then, the Tomb Raider series hasn't kept pace. Problems such as clunky controls and a frustrating camera, which were excusable in the early games, have steadily degraded the quality of the series releases over time. The latest installment, Tomb Raider: Legend, finally brings the series into the 21st Century while staying true to the adventurous spirit of the early games.

While Tomb Raider: Legend doesn't manage to quite make it to the upper echelon of the current crop of action-adventure titles out there today, it's definitely a step in the right direction for the franchise. Hopefully now that Crystal Dynamics has overcome the major hurdles the franchise has faced, namely clunky controls and boring and rather frustrating combat, they'll be able to focus more on innovation and story on the next outing after Anniversary hits later this Fall. Hopefully next time they spring for a next-gen engine as well. Imagine Tomb Raider with UE3 graphics...

Lara est de retour avec un gameplay dépoussiéré, plus souple et facile à prendre en main, elle profite au passage d'une esthétique impeccable et d'un level design faisant toujours la part belle à l'exploration et à la plate-forme. Dans ces conditions, la durée de vie relativement faible devient assez frustrante, même si les à-côtés proposés permettent de prolonger encore un peu le plaisir de retrouver Lara Croft belle et agile comme jamais.

With all of that aside though, it was still fun. It's a good sign that the series is back on track. Old Tomb Raider fans will definitely appreciate what Legend brings back to the table, but there are still a number of problems.

Vi har alla kunnat följa Laras väg från hyllad hjältinna till utskälld och utskrattad föredetting. Flytten tillbaka till Laras skapare Toby Gard och hans Crystal Dynamics har dock utan tvekan gjort serien gott och Legend är ett markant steg framåt; ironiskt nog tack vare att det rent spelmekaniskt är ett medvetet steg tillbaka. Fortsätter Crystal Dynamics på den nu inslagna vägen kan Laras nästa äventyr bli riktigt riktigt bra och förhoppningsvis är det då också betydligt längre.

The Tomb Raider franchise was a big deal to a few gamers once upon a time, Lara hit the consoles and Tomb Raider was a success. Then came hollywood with Angelina Jolie leading the role of Lara Croft its was hard not to notice Lady Croft. Then tragic events struck, we call this Angel of Darkness! Luckily times are changing and Tomb Raider: Legend has to gain its fan base back. Lara Croft is back and we are treated to the old Lara in an adventure that would make Indiana Jones envious.
