It is nice to see 2K didn?t sleepwalk this year as Live did step up their game and I look forward to what real competition has to offer. Let?s just hope that the heated competition doesn?t get the best of this series to merit another exclusivity buyout. We all know that competition only makes developers work harder instead of resting on their reputations. As for which is the game to buy this year, it is a no brainer that 2K has game and it should be yours too.

Note to the development team: You can’t go back from this. The fans of this series (especially the ones who frequent this site) will not accept future versions of this series that aren’t as deep or as enjoyable as this year’s version. I would hate to see an NBA 2K8 or future version that had less animations or not as deep as this year’s game. For now, I’ll just enjoy the best basketball game I’ve ever played.

NBA 2K7 delivers the most authentic NBA simulation which is great for gamers looking for that. It's a fuller experience than NBA Live 07 is, although gamers looking for a faster-paced and flashier game of basketball will want to stick with EA's offering.

I suppose what it all really comes down to is this: NBA 2K7 is easily the greatest basketball game ever made. It will please NBA fans infinitely and it will make non-fans appreciate the sport even more. Visual Concept has crafted a game that not only plays wonderfully but that rewards the player for playing it properly. While a lot could still be accomplished on the presentation side, NBA 2K7 remains the pinnacle of sport gaming and peerless among its competitors.

2K6 was a great basketball game, so there wasn't much 2K7 needed to improve upon, and as expected, it isn't a huge upgrade overall, but where changes have been made, they really count for something. While I'm sure the purists will manage to find stuff that could use tweaking for 2K8, which I think has to be the case for every sport game ever released, NBA 2K7 Xbox 360 is the most complete NBA basketball game made to date. There is still perhaps some room to take advantage of the next gen platform visually and physics wise, but the 2K NBA series is well on its way to becoming a true next gen sports gaming experience.

GameDaily
NBA 2K7 is an exceptional hoops title in just about every respect. But the series definitely needs some work, and hopefully, 2K Sports has something special planned for 2K8. Live and Sony's NBA franchise may not be on the same level as 2K7, but they're creeping, much the same way the Chicago Bulls are creeping on the defending NBA champions, the Miami Heat. If 2K's crew isn't careful, they just might be on the losing end.

Cheat Code Central
NBA 2K7 is one of the best basketball games currently available. Although it does have a number of shortcomings, the total package is enough to satisfy any true fan of the sport. With the Signature Style re-creating players' styles on the game, the immersive Association mode, and the nearly impeccable online play, NBA 2K7 is the sports title to get this basketball season.

Boomtown
2K Sports has really excelled itself with 2K7 and even though basketball isn’t huge over here, this game deserves to do really well and pick up some new fans along the way. It is one of the best sporting simulations ever made and is easily the best basketball game to hit a console. If you sat on the fence with 2K6 and didn’t make the purchase, now is the time to get off it and enjoy one of the finest sporting games of the year. I’ll see you on the court friends, this white man CAN jump.

Presentation alone doesn't make a game great to play. Thankfully, Visual Concepts and 2K games have managed to create an even better version of their latest NBA release. Hailing from a group of gamers that doesn't venture into the sports game arena anywhere near enough, we found ourselves pleasantly surprised by NBA 2K7; not only did we have fun but the mechanics, visuals and sound aspects of the game really are a credit to the developers.

MS Xbox World
To surmise, NBA 2K7 is an excellent game, and 2K Sports looks to be on the right track improving and adding to the franchise each year. A great example of this can be seen every time you go to the hoop - chances are you won’t see the same dunk twice. Oh, and if you dunk with someone like Vince Carter or LeBron James, you’d better get ready to pick your jaw up off the floor. Some of the new dunks are just spectacular and live up to the superstars in every way you’d expect. This year it’s not even a contest as NBA 2K7 blows out the competition. Their record? A solid 9 out of 10.

IC-Games
It’s a two horse race as to which publisher has released the finest basketball game this season. Both EA and 2KGames have produced fine simulators but in terms or sheer gameplay and polish we think the crown this year firmly belongs to NBA2K7.

NZGamer
NBA 2K7 is an excellent basketball game, with more features than ever. Whether you're a competitive online player racking up the ranked-match victories for those achievement points, or if you're glad just managing a franchise team, NBA 2K7 offers a great all-round package.
88
TeamXbox
This is the basketball game to own this season. NBA 2K7 advances the classic basketball formula to deliver the best playing game in quite some time. Nice touches like offering the various draft classes from the past six years are great to see. The online features coupled with the franchise and 24/7 modes are enough gameplay to keep even the best ballers busy for months to come. This could very well be 2K Sports’ finest work since the original NFL 2K on the Dreamcast.
88
Gaming Target
NBA 2K7 is a complete game that offers everything you would want in a basketball title. You'll spend countless hours in The Association and 24/7 modes alone, plus there's online compatibility and other areas to fool with. Seasoned veterans will greatly appreciate the authentic presentation and dynamic control system, with the ability to perform nearly any conceivable move, from your various hop steps to your head fakes to your stutter steps. That's not to say that the jukes could have been a bit more steadfast, though. And the developer should carefully rethink the irritating menu system. It's about time 2K Sports and Visual Concepts get their just due. After all, the two are only behind the most solid basketball title year after year, yet they still manage to make the game more enjoyable each time out.

GameTrailers
While it isn’t perfect, NBA 2K7 simply offers the most well-rounded, entertaining, and error-free hoops offering this season. Plenty of modes and gameplay depth combine with stunning visuals and presentation to make NBA 2K7 this year’s king of the court and a must own for PS3-owning hoops fans.
86
Game Over Online
NBA 2K7 is the basketball game of choice for 2007. The core gameplay is still here, which is a good thing, and hasn’t changed, save a few small enhancements. It looks great, sounds great, and plays great, and you can’t ask for much more than that. 2K7 Sports continues to impress, and this game is an easy recommend for basketball fans.

NBA 2K7 brings together the total package for any gamer. Whether you want to simulate the complete experience or just kick back and play with no rules, NBA 2K7 caters to players of all skill levels. The excellent graphics combined with a great audio mix will make your friends do a double take and ask what channel you're watching. There's no question that the basketball game to be playing this year is NBA 2K7.
85
Kikizo Games
NBA 2K7 is all anyone could expect from a basketball game. It's tricky at first, and navigating the menus is something of a nightmare, but those with more than a couple of hours to spend will find NBA 2K7 has a lot to offer.

Jolt (UK)
In this way, 2K Sports has legitimised the much-maligned argument for in-game advertising in one swoop - but that’s a conclusion for another time and place. In the end, NBA 2K7’s biggest accolade is a result of its triumph in communicating a passion and love for one sport so completely. Although there is still work to be done, for those who love basketball - and, more impressively, even for those who don’t - this is a title that revels in the game at its most entertaining level and presents it in a way that is pretty hard to overlook.

Worth Playing
When it comes to playing a deep, exciting, and realistic simulation of basketball, NBA 2K7 is your game. If playing basketball is what you want to do on your X360, then just play 2K7 anyway and forget about NBA Live's shoddy physics and gameplay. With a plethora of deep features, an incredible online mode and some of the most immersive animations and graphics ever, 2K7 far outshines the competition. It isn't perfect, as the A.I. sometimes seems to be a bit too tough, and the player face issues really do nag at you. All in all, when it comes to a great basketball title, NBA 2K7 isn't just your best bet - it's really your only bet.

Fragland.net
When comparing this game with NBA Live it seems to have happened again. NBA 2K7 is clearly the better of the two and this in almost all areas. If you love basketball and gaming then this is simply a must have... I won't spoil any more words on it, this is one of the best of its kind!

GameZone
There is so much to this game, it will take you a little bit of time mastering the gameplay. It’s not as polished as I hoped for and it’s hard not to notice the shortcomings. But playing NBA 2K7 (especially with a high-definition, surround-sound setup) immerses you in the experience of playing real basketball. If this is the beginning of next-generation sports gaming, I can’t wait for the future!

The Video Game Critic
The basic controls are similar to Live 07, except the crossovers are performed with the left joystick (instead of the right), and there's only one shoot button (thankfully). 2K7's foul shooting is a bit simplistic but at least it's not frustrating (like EA's). Calling plays is a breeze, and there's a handy "call for pick" button. Kevin Harlin and Kevin Smith provide competent but understated play-by-play, and there's an elaborate half-time show. It's clear that 2K Sports is truly making an effort to harness the power of the new generation of systems. Playing this game will make you grateful EA hasn't secured the exclusive rights to the NBA (yet). NBA 2K7 is the clear choice for b-ball fans this year.
83
1UP
From front to back, the competition just doesn't stack up. This is clearly the premier basketball game of the year. In fact, when you match up NBA 2K7 bucket for bucket with Live 07, it's a slaughter. We're talking a 120-48 type of lopsidedness.

IGN
NBA 2K7 is a very impressive basketball title. The critically acclaimed gameplay has been improved, especially the defensive AI, yet other areas like defense still need some work. This game is as deep as sports games go, offering not only a great franchise mode but a wealth of options you may never even see. There are so many options that the game is great for hardcore simulation fans and arcade streetball fans alike. If you like basketball, you can't help but enjoy NBA 2K7. Moving forward, 2K needs to make player faces look like human beings, improve some suspect clock AI on the part of the CPU, and work on making on-the-ball defense fun. Still, this is a damn good basketball game and your best option on the 360 this season.

XBox-Zone
All in all, I have to say that I was pleasantly surprised with NBA 2K7. Before I started this review, I didn’t consider myself an NBA video game fan, but this game has certainly converted me. I would strongly recommend any sporting game fan to give this one a try, as it is a great example of a sporting game done right. And for any NBA fans out there who don’t already have this title, I would suggest you do everything in your powers to obtain it, as it is the most authentic NBA experience you’re likely to find on any console at the moment. Having said that, 2K7 is not perfect, but it has enough things in its favour to keep you coming back until the next installment is released in a year’s time.
83
Game Revolution
NBA 2K7 is a pleasure to play, or just watch. The load of modes and options will keep you easily entertained until next season, and the new animations and context-sensitive controls add a never-before-seen layer of realism, even if you have seen everything else before. If you have the cash, this is an easy bucket.
83
Game Shark
In the end, 2K Sports has another winner on its hands. Despite a few frustrations, this is a fantastic basketball game with enough variety to keep each game fresh and enough replay value to keep it in the rotation for many months to come.
82
Gamernode
What NBA 2K7 boils down to is entirely based upon the player's desire for realism. For those dying to see the authentic animations in a basketball title on the Xbox 360, 2K7 will suffice. But anyone looking for a totally new basketball experience will be sorely disappointed. The rest of the game is the same, albeit solid, experience that we've played for several years now. There just isn't enough here to justify a purchase for casual fans. 2K7 is just another step forward - just not the leap you would expect from a second generation next-gen title.
82
GameSpot
When everything manages to come together, NBA 2K7 looks and feels amazing. Watching a player in the low post receive a bounce pass, pivot one way, take a drop step the other, and finally slam the ball home is truly something to behold. Unfortunately, these instances of perfection aren't as frequent as they could be, given the preponderance of nagging gameplay issues. Those who were expecting a big leap from last year will likely be disappointed, but fans expecting only a slight improvement, or anyone looking for a great, well-rounded basketball game, will be pleased with NBA 2K7.

Xbox World Australia (XWA)
For basketball fans and people who have an understanding of the rules, NBA 2K7 is the basketball game for you. Its great audio and presentation combined with the slick gameplay makes for a worthy purchase. However, casual gamers who don't know much about basketball (read: me) or simply aren't interested in the sport might want to steer clear of this one as the invisible-wall-physics and jagged graphics will probably be more apparent and off-putting. If you're after a basketball game for the Santa stocking though, NBA 2K7 is by far the best choice this year.

Totally Gaming Network
NBA 2K7 is huge leap forward from 2K6 with Visual Concepts improving on virtually every aspect of the game. It’s graphically sound with solid gameplay to back it up and from what I could tell from the short play session I’ve had with EA’s NBA Live 07 this certainly looks to be the better of the two. However, not the definitive Basketball game but then again when will we ever have a definitive sports game. It would leave no room for a sequel.

Gamekult

GameSpy
NBA 2K7 is an excellent basketball game, with more features than you can exhaust in months of play. Whether you're a competitive online player racking up the ranked-match victories for those last elusive achievement points, or if you're a sim-happy franchise-mode fanatic working out three team trades and keeping tabs on jersey sales, you've got plenty to play with here. Visual Concepts and 2K Sports have done it again, and NBA 2K7 comes highly recommended.
80
Planet Xbox 360
Sadly, the 2K series has strayed from it’s “always cheaper pricing” of sports titles. Yes, you’ll have to shell out $60 for this game, but make no mistake it is well worth it. Some might say that the game has only shown small improvements over last year’s installment, but just like in real life basketball if you do the little things right, you’ll usually win the ball game.
80
AceGamez
Although not a huge amount has been changed from NBA 2K6, when a game is this good it's hard to care, especially when almost everything added works so well. Although not quite the defining basketball experience that you might have hoped for, NBA 2K7 comes dangerously close, while still giving the impression that it has a few more tricks left in the locker. Maybe the inevitable NBA 2K8 will answer the minor issues still left unanswered, but until then basketball fans need not look anywhere else - because NBA 2K7 is still without doubt top dog when it comes basketball.
80
videogamer.com
When all is said and done, NBA 2K7 is as well-rounded a basketball game as you can get. 2K7 really isn't a huge improvement over last year's effort, but I doubt anyone will bother to care. Lone players could spend months in the Association mode, and the online options are excellent for players wanting some human-on-human play. At the moment there's only one basketball series worth caring about, and that's NBA 2K.
80
PAL Gaming Network (PALGN)
Simply a great basketball game, providing an authentic experience that pulls confidently ahead of the current Xbox 360 selection.
80
Console Obsession
NBA 2K7 is less of a mere update than 2K6 was, and brings some interesting and fan-pleasing additions to the series. Next generation basketball has truly arrived.
80
Eurogamer.net (UK)
It's deep baby, deeper than The Bee Gees' and Take That's love. It's handsome too. Damn handsome. And it's rich with features, so rich you'll struggle to know where to start, and then have to face up to the possibility that you won't ever get around to exploring everything. It's a sports game that will keep you going for months until the next one arrives, and even then it's going to do itself a disservice by making you seriously question whether you need to buy another yearly upgrade. But if this is the sport you're dedicated to, Visual Concepts has made the game entirely for your pleasure. And it's not very often you can credit a game with giving you a year's worth of play. Go get it.

Games Asylum
As polished as the surfaces the players run around on.
76
Kombo.com
If you've been a fan of 2K's NBA series this won't be a disapointment. Don't expect much more then a good game of basketball though.
75
Game Shark
NHL 2K7 is a very enjoyable hockey game. It has shown many signs of improvement vs last year’s game. There are still things to work on for next year, including better control and the play by play, but this game will definitely keep me busy until next year’s game.
70
Game Freaks 365
NBA 2K7 drops the ball. That’s all there is to it. It’s not an awful game, but it is riddled with gameplay flaws that weren’t apparent in last year’s next-gen debut. The visuals are great, the presentation is great, all the modes are there–but when the game isn’t as fun to play as it is to simulate, it isn’t worth your $30, your $60, or really any amount of your money.
70
Gamestyle
NBA 2K7 is your typical update. It may not revolutionise anything, but the improved graphics and online mode are enough to win over fans of the series. Not worth full price if you own the previous edition, but trade in 2K6, get some money off and then it may be a worthy purchase.
65
Gamer Within
All in all, NBA 2K7 is an unimpressive sports title that is brought to life by very few positive aspects, including the player likeness to real life counterparts and also the variety to choose from. However with such flawed gameplay NBA 2K7 is only for the die hard fans.
