Anyone who's seen an actual streetball game -- especially tournaments -- knows that atmosphere is a huge deal, as fans surround the court and hoot and holler at every sensational play (they are so frantic, it's almost like a riot is gonna break out after a score). Unfortunately, you won't find any of that emotion in Homecourt. But, as mentioned in the beginning of this review, unlike those sim fellas, the Street dev team should have plenty of time to work on that and several other features before the next edition is due out.

In closing there is a lot to like about the Xbox 360 debut of NBA Street. Controls are easy to learn, players look great, and the soundtrack is outstanding. Just as we said in our latest Podcast the achievements will keep you coming, most of which are really easy to get. Even if you are picking this one up for the achievement points you will still in the end enjoy it. This one is not to be missed especially if you are tired of 2K7 or NBA Live!

Swish it from way downtown or slam it home with a physics-defying, high-flying double or even triple dunk. Whatever way you score it, NBA Street Homecourt is the best streetball game around, bringing a whole new level of energy and exciting gameplay to the NBA Street franchise.

Overall, Homecourt is well worth a pickup if you’re looking for an arcade basketball game. The awesome new Gamebreaker system, revised trick system and incredible graphics make for what is arguably EA’s best next-gen sports title yet. However, the lack of a multiplayer Homecourt Challenge mode keeps this game away from being the best arcade sports title ever.

NBA Street Homecourt really takes things up a notch. EA Canada has made the gameplay tighter and more intuitive, improved the graphics significantly, and got together a killer soundtrack. For the next iteration, we want the option to turn off the sepia tone and more gameplay modes, but the gameplay itself is nearly perfect.

But don't let the lack of variety deter you; there's plenty of game to be played in Homecourt, and it's all great fun. EA Sports Big deserves big ups for their efforts here, a successful combination of immensely entertaining gameplay and a distinctive design aesthetic. If you're the sort who generally avoids the sports games, this one is still worth trying on as a pick-up-and-play party game. NBA Street Homecourt slam dunks the opposition, demonstrating that all of us have an inner baller just waiting to be unleashed.

NBA Street Homecourt is a solid basketball game with great controls and a fun arcade-style feel to it. It retains the fast and fluid gameplay of the series while adding new elements for the next-gen systems. All in all, a solid entry as well as one of the best basketball games out there.

The game was done right. Its fairly easy to pick-up on any one can play but can also go as deep as you like. The interface is easy to navigate around and understand. Game play runs smooth, the graphics are a 10 out of 10. In practice session you can practice all your moves with and without teammates or opponents for as long as you like.

I recommend NBA Street Homecourt to any basketball fan. It’s a great game with fantastic gameplay and top-notch visuals and animations. The stories of the basketball players are a huge bonus, and will have you immersed before you know it. EA has another street winner, and as far as Street’s transition from last-gen to the 360? Success.

NBA Street Homecourt on vaikeusasteeltaan huomattavasti tasapainoisempi kuin sarjan aiemmat osat. Peliä ei ole kuitenkaan helpotettu liikaa, vaan pelaamisesta on tehty yksinkertaisesti hauskempaa. Palloiluun on todella keskityttävä, tai muuten häviön karvaan kalkin nieleminen on edessä. Siten katu-NBA eroaakin mielestäni muista, hieman vakavammista urheilupeleistä. Ainakin itse olen yleensä pärjännyt yllättävän hyvin sivusilmällä ja vasurilla helpommilla tasoilla pelaten, sanotaan nyt esimerkiksi NHL-sarjan peleissä. NBA Street Homecourt tarjoaa kuitenkin helpoimmillaankin sopivassa suhteessa haastetta, jota voi taitojen karttuessa myös lisätä vaikkapa kesken kauden. Jos siis perinteisempi koripallo alkaa syystä tai toisesta tympiä, kannattaa harkita palaamista takaisin ghettoon tykittämään ehtaa katukorista kulman kundien kanssa.

NBA Street Homecourt is a great addition to the sports library on next-gen consoles and a step up for EA's vaunted franchise. The Trick Remixer and new Gamebreaker system will have you jumping out of your gaming chair. Visually, the cartoony-art style surely helps keep the framerate at a blazing 60 fps, with an excellent animation system. While the teams rosters could use and update and the Homecourt Challenge a bit more drama, the gameplay is as good as arcade hoops gets. IGN officially gives NBA Street Homecourt "mad props."

If you haven’t tired of the series by now, Homecourt won’t be the one to set you over the edge. It introduces a great new gamebreaker system and a simplified trick/dunk scheme that breathe new life into the franchise. Worth picking up for anyone who has ever enjoyed an arcade basketball game.

Basically, if you’re a fan of the previous NBA Street titles (or arcade-style basketball games in general), you’ll have a blast with NBA Street Homecourt. The development team has added tons of excellent new features, from the new trick system to the improved Gamebreaker mechanic, without taking away any of the stuff that made the previous titles so great. Actually, scratch that, they did screw up in one big way. Where are our classic players, EA?!? I want to be able to build my all-time Dream Team, just like I did in Street Vol. 2. There better be some downloads in our future, or you’re likely to have some grumpy hoop fans on your hands!

Overall this is a great game for fun with the buddies. Trying to out trick, out dunk, out dribble will definitely appeal to you. This is a fun game to play and is not for the serious sports enthusiast. Developers just keep improving the sounds and graphics. EA states in its sports simulation games “If it is in the Game, It’s in the game”. Well the slogan for this genre should be “if you can imagine it, it’s in the game”.

For sportos, this should be an instant purchase. Casual fans of basketball won't be at a disservice to check this game out either, and it's good enough that I'd recommend it to anyone who just likes fun games, period. Easily the best entry in the series yet, the game delivers a solid package well worth its price tag.

Electronic Arts possède en son studio d'EA Big une combinaison de talents trop peu souvent mise en avant. Une fois encore, le dérivé "Street" fait son petit effet et procure un plaisir de jeu d'exception, que l'on adhère à l'arcade ou non. A plusieurs, le tout donne un cocktail explosif qui, en dépit des premières impressions que donne le titre, n'est à aucun moment indigeste. Le jeu fait dans le spectaculaire mais sait s'arrêter au bon moment, en s'appuyant sur une ambiance du tonnerre. Du très bon à tous les étages, si l'on met de côté l'aspect gadget de certains modes de jeu.

All told, NBA Street: Homecourt is a fun experience for anyone looking for a quick pick up game. Even with its flaws, Homecourt is still a great experience, especially when linking together dribble moves to jump off a teammates back and throw an alley-oop to the other teammate or organizing other fantastic plays. If you like basketball, NBA Street: Homecourt is probably the best arcade-style streetball game on the market.

In the end, any next-generation console owning street ball fan should own NBA Street Homecourt. It is by far the best of the series thus far and is a great building block for future versions. Just bear in mind that the multiplayer experience gives this game a much higher score than the single player, so if you don't plan on playing online or with friends, you may want to just check this out. For you multiplayer fans out there, this is the game you've been waiting for since the birth of the genre.

Overall NBA Street Homecourt is a good next gen title. There can be some game play issues with the lack of AI hustle, or AI players blocking you from inbounding the ball. The controls have been simplified so that there is almost no learning curve, and nearly anyone can pick up and play to get right into the high flying action. On the flip side the controls may be too simplified for those that prefer the trick stick of old. The game is a feast for the senses with great graphics and fantastic audio although replay value is reduced by the fact that you are doing virtually the exact same thing game in and game out, regardless of game play mode. The game feels repetitive over time, but it is still a good game to pull out of your library once in a while.

NBA Street Homecourt gets old after a while since it lacks the options found in the more robust NBA 2K7, but players will delight in its light hearted take on basketball. Its theatrics, coupled with its gorgeous visuals, make it a fine addition to everyone's collection.

There's a lot to like about NBA Street Homecourt's debut on the Xbox 360. The controls are easy to learn, the gameplay is as tight as ever, players look great and move well, and the soundtrack is top-notch. As any good game should, Homecourt leaves you wanting more, not only because it's so much fun, but also because there isn't enough to do. Earning achievements by performing tricks, playing online, and leveling up your character will keep you going for a while, but the Homecourt Challenge doesn't offer up enough depth, and the game is lacking in other modes. However, there are worse things you can say about a game other than it left you wanting more.

The NBA Street franchise makes a solid next-gen debut with Homecourt. It may be a bit thin in the modes department, but that's not all that unheard of when a series makes the leap to a new and more powerful console. Where development did put in the time was in coming up with a logical and intuitive new controller scheme that lets you showcase all the moves that Street vets expect from the game. Toss in some surprise new moves and the sweet visuals and it's just about enough to make even the most bummed out hoops fan -- the Celts lost 18 straight games from January 5 to February 14 -- feel like hitting the court again.

All-in-all, Street's debut on next-gen consoles is an impressive one and if you're into arcade basketball goodness (as you likely are if you're reading this) then Homecourt is most definitely for you. To be perfectly honest, we would have liked to have seen a few more game modes, or in a perfect world, the ability to play as the NBA legends (nothing beats nailing the air Jordan over your friend in Street 2). Nevertheless, minor gripes aside, Homecourt is a deliciously addictive baller and a commendable next-gen Street effort on EA's part.

NBA Street Homecourt is an essential purchase for fans of the series and sport alike. It has the strong backbone of a great arcade-style basketball game, which is only strengthened by innovative and tactical touches such as the gamebreaker meter, tricks combos, double dunks, and other neat touches. With fantastic presentation, a great multiplayer mode, and more sheer outright fun than should ever be had on a basketball court, NBA Street will appeal to both long time fans of the series and those casual fans simply after some good, solid, arcade-style sporting action!

Overall NBA Street Homecourt is a pretty damn fine game. Graphically all looks nice and shines in the right places, audio presentation is good and is blended with lots of well, placed music tracks and the game certainly plays as it should. There are the repetitive issues tied into the game and could be classed by some as a bit boring after a while, plus of course with the issues effecting gameplay with defensive moves… But these are minor issues in my opinion and as short lived, as NBA Street Homecourt could be for some it really is a blast to play. I would say this is probably better as a rental unless you are a die-hard fan but do need to say this is certainly not one to be ignored or missed.

There’s no such thing as a “bad” NBA Street game. Every installment brings something new to the table, and typically builds upon the great offerings from previous installments. Homecourt looks, sounds and plays greatly, but it seems they lost the essence of what made V3 so phenomenal. If Homecourt was a little bit more like…well, Homecourt, it would be more of a highlight. To be entirely honest, if EA gave the player more control over their character and their court, this installment would have been the game it should have been. Instead, it falls slightly within the shadow of its predecessor.

Luckily, Homecourt doesn't grow old after just a round of playing. Because nearly every aspect of Homecourt is a game within a game it doesn't begin to feel stale after only a few minutes. From building up your gamebreaker meter on offense to the defensive steal/push to the potential double dunk lurking underneath every slam. This game is a gem. It's also the first fun arcade sports title to hit the next generation of consoles.

Although the game looks and feels beautiful, the gameplay has little to offer which makes NBA Street Homecourt interesting for just a couple of hours. On the other hand, these aspects make it the perfect game to rent. The atmosphere and soundtrack are really worth your while!

Overall this is a very solid title from EA. Whilst the single player might not keep you entertained for more than 6 – 8 hours, the multiplayer aspect of the game certainly will. Even if you are not a basketball fan, I recommend you try this game. The pickup and play arcade style of the game make it suitable for anyone. If EA can make the rest of their Street franchise games as good as this then they’re on for a winner!

EA's NBA Street Homecourt will give basketball fans a nice break from the simulation style games. The gamebreaker feature ensures that every game, no matter what the score, can become competitive and the graphics are pretty nice. Building up your player to be a streetball legend is pretty fun as well giving you a little RPG element to a sports game. While it's not a very deep game, NBA Street Homecourt offers good fun with a few people sitting in front of the console.

Punchy and immaculately produced, NBA Street Homecourt is a great jumping-on point for a simple, entertaining and really well-designed series. It doesn't have much to offer veterans of the games beyond a stylistic makeover, though, and the game modes and trick system lack a little too much depth and breadth to really satisfy in the long term. But if you're after a slick and pacy sports game with legs in multiplayer (and there's something wrong with you and you don't like Virtua Tennis), you can't do much better right now.

NBA Street: Homecourt isn’t quite the show stopper I thought it would be, but it’s hardly a disappointment either. Its career mode is a short experience and the graphics and sound don’t push the Xbox 360 to its limits - even the gameplay has some frustrating features - but the innovation and entertainment for those who persevere through the learning curve and mundane early matches using rubbish players more than make up for that. The animations and lighting effects make for a wonderful atmosphere to the game and it is a blast to play with friends online or off. While not quite as good as it could have been, Homecourt is probably the best streetball game we will see on 360 until the next instalment in the Street series.

In all honesty, NBA Street: Homecourt is not a bad game; it has just been executed the wrong way. EA Canada has obviously gone for the ‘easy to learn, hard to master’ style of gameplay, but the inherent problem here is that Homecourt is not very hard to master at all – anyone and everyone will be busting out gamebreakers combined with multiple double dunks within an hour of picking up the game. With a major shift in focus towards single player, that is just not right. While previous games in the series were just as flashy as Homecourt, it felt much more rewarding having to learn how to do the flashy moves, rather than just being able to do them after a few quick matches. NBA Street: Homecourt is certainly worth a rental for basketball fans, but there is just not enough content here to justify a purchase.

But that monkey is only trained to like good original games, so even though he sees a future for more monkey-like sports simulations, he is going to pan NBA Street Homecourt. The gameplay becomes repetitive quickly and the campaign is over without much fuss. In the end, this fast-paced game falls victim to its own velocity.
