New concepts are introduced slowly, with early levels focusing on a single element: a level with just steam jets, a level with just moving pipes, etc. Later levels combine elements to create complex challenges, like hitting an anchor switch to activate a steam jet through a timed field of electrical arcs. There's a tutorial level to teach the basic controls and physics of the game and also a bonus level where the player can move about freely without fear of being destroyed. The best time for each level is recorded and a medal—bronze, silver, or gold—is awarded if players beat certain times.
After the player completes the basic levels, a hard mode is unlocked that disables mid-level checkpoints and reverses the playfields, so that a level once traversed by moving right-to-left is now traversed left-to-right.
