This game is a solid contender for best sports title ever, it’s probably the single most addictive game of its kind on any console and the sheer level of AI sophistication makes you think there’s a human behind that player at times. It’s great fun offline and even more fun online with a plethora of tactics to master and only a few core buttons to learn. If you like your table tennis in a slickly presented, fun to play and easy to learn package that comes at the right price loaded with crisp graphics and excellent, devious AI then you’re mad if you miss out on this game.

While not a bad game by any means, Rockstar Game Presents Table Tennis does have potential for some gamers to be a game that packs short lived excitement. For the first few days, I was enthralled with the title and itched to get back to playing it; but as time went on it slipped further from my mind as something that I really wanted to play. The controls in general were spot on, with the one flaw that I outlined above detracting only slightly from the game. Setting up tournaments and other matches online was a breeze, and I never found it a challenge to get a match going with random players when my friends list was dry.

Rockstar Presents Table Tennis is a huge surprise in gaming this year. In an era where gamers are complaining of a lack of originality, this is a refreshing game that is being sold at a price which makes it one of the best buys of the year. For half the price of most 360 games, you get one of world’s most original games in a long long time and one of the best 360 games to boot as well.

While originally being described by Rockstar as a pet-project for the number of the ping-pong fans within their staff, there is a part of me that thinks this game may have been created as a test for them to see just how far they could go with their graphic development. The positive results that came from the finished product may influence the way they go about designing the next round of GTA as well as other future titles they produce. However, this is only my opinion and we all know what they say about opinions.

If one more person explains what a "surprising move" this is for Rockstar I'm going to pay to have sex with them and then beat them up when I get out of the car.

Rockstar Games Presents Table Tennis is a very entertaining game that is certainly worth your time. This out of left field concept shows that Rockstar is capable of more than violent third person sand box shooters. This is a large step for the company. I am excited to see what they tackle next. Who knows, maybe they will make the best curling game you have ever seen.

Rockstar presents Table Tennis is a bare bones, reduced price videogame that offers players exactly what it says on the packaging. It's Table Tennis, nothing more, nothing less. Some may say that Rockstar's latest game is merely an attempt to reproduce Pong in 3D - and it certainly echoes Pong in terms of fevered immediacy and dazzling addiction - but Table Tennis feels very much like a labour of love and a genuine attempt to distil some of that oft-overlooked 'fun factor' that's sadly lacking in most modern videogames. Moreover, that element of instantly accessible fun ably replaces the lack of a 20-year career mode, stat-heavy managerial element, or ridiculously complex character creation tools, all of which are nowhere to be seen in Table Tennis.

Rockstar Games comes through with one of the best playing sports games of the year. It may seem unconventional, but Rockstar's Table Tennis is easily one of the most fun two-player games since the original Street Fighter II!

Rockstar Presents Table Tennis is just that Table Tennis and nothing much more. Although basic and a little dry when it comes to game modes Table Tennis makes up for with a high level of polish, easy to learn controls, and addictive and fun gameplay. Surprisingly Rockstar presented a nice classic styled game which will help games slide past another few slow months until the fall.

As one of the first commercially available video games, Pong seems to have an almost academic importance, but not enough credit is given to the simple elegance of its design--two bar-shaped "paddles," one square "ball"--something that was born largely out of technical limitations. There is an obvious correlation between Pong and the newly minted Rockstar's Table Tennis for the Xbox 360, in that Table Tennis is literally a ping-pong simulation. But it also follows the same philosophy of stripping the experience down to its essence, something focused and intense. Rockstar's Table Tennis treats the game like a serious sport, taking incredible care to present some of the most realistic player characters ever put in a game and delivering frenetic and nuanced action.

Rockstar Games is a corporation best known for titles such as Grand Theft Auto, Max Payne, and the controversial gore-fest Manhunt. As evident with their previous track-record, they’re a developer who enjoys pushing the envelope. When Rockstar Games Presents Table Tennis was announced, some wondered how a team who usually works on innovative ways to virtually murder people would deliver a light-hearted ping-pong game. I was one of those people.

While it does feature some unlockable characters, outfits and stages, Rockstar Table Tennis simply doesn't offer enough in terms of single-player. Playing on XBL can be fun for a while, but can't compare to playing on the same system. If you've got some friends to play against, Table Tennis is absolutely worth picking up. It's fast paced, great for pick-up-and-play gaming and sold at a reduced price. Here's hoping a sequel offers doubles play and something resembling a career mode.

So, is Rockstar Games Presents Table Tennis going to blow people away? Yes and no. The single-player experience is pretty sparse and really only worth playing to gain more characters, Achievement Points, and practice. Multiplayer is at the core of this game, and honestly, the experience of having a bunch of people over for couch warfare is where this title gets its legs. The online experience, while flawed in spots, is still quite good, and as of the first two days of release, seems fairly low on epithet-hurling pre-teens and pretty high on good matches. Factor in a price that's $20 lower than some of the crappier titles floating around your local game store, and it's a no-brainer. If you own a 360 and you ever play video games against other human beings, this title is likely a good choice for you.

It’s ping-pong time!

Rockstar's Table Tennis has really come into its own on the Xbox 360. The precise controls, fluid animations, and addictive gameplay are just a few of the things that make this game so worthwhile to play. The only drawback to the game is a lack of game modes such as create-a-player or a career mode. That being said, I have no problem recommending this one for purchase, although you may want to grab it on sale around the $30 mark. Rockstar has thoroughly convinced me that video game table tennis is a worthwhile venture and a superb, if not eclectic, addition to the Xbox 360 library.

Some aspects could be better, however. A customizable character would be nice – as the game is fairly small as is and it would do nothing but add to the experience. There is very little customization in the game so being able to design your own paddles or characters would enhance the game by a lot. There is also no doubles option. I am not sure if doubles is a common practice in the world of competitive Table Tennis but it would have been a nice addition to an already solid game. It is a fairly inexpensive game, weighing in at $39.99 new (and used copies will likely be half of that) so I do suggest you grab your paddle and...

Digital Press - Classic Video Games
When Microsoft first unveiled the Xbox 360 back at E3 2004, they said their market were the people who don't play video games. While they still have the hurdle of getting those people to drop $400 on a game system, they're bridging the gap with games like this from their third party developers. They've done so without alienating the die-hard fans as well. If you're on Xbox Live, Rockstar's Table Tennis is one of the 360's best no matter your skill level or experience.

Despite the frustratingly tough difficulty, the occasional balancing issue, and the limitations of the single-player mode, for anyone with friends on or offline, Table Tennis is a must-buy for the 360. At its lower price point of £30 (I balk at calling anything for that price “budget”), it’s an absolute bargain. Or, in Lars Butler terminology, Table Tennis is very much a game for all you Stan Collymores out there.

If the only buddies you have are on an Instant Messenger list and your idea of fun is spending hours alone in a dark room, this game will feel like the locker room after gym class. But for those people who believe video games go best with a 12-pack and a gang of friends, Rockstar’s next-gen table tennis simulator is the best thing to happen to one-on-one competition since shit talking.

The company behind Grand Theft Auto brings you its first next-generation console game... and it's ping pong. Actually it's not bad a move, as the fast-paced sport gets a flash and furious outing.

GameDaily
Don't you love it when a company pulls one out of left field and gets away with creating a fantastic new experience? I mean, here we have Rockstar Games, the creators of the immensely popular (and controversial) Grand Theft Auto games. They're about to have hairs standing up on end yet again with this year's forthcoming Bully, and the company makes their Xbox 360 debut in a manner that isn't really like them. They have produced a table tennis (or ping pong) game that might seem laughable at first because no one really saw it coming on the market (it was literally announced just months ago), but they have the last laugh, as it's one of the better sports games for the system.

Game Informer Magazine
Rockstar caught everyone by surprise with Table Tennis, which was announced a few months ago. Given the company’s reputation for creating large-scale, adults-only epics like Grand Theft Auto and Manhunt, bringing out a new version of America’s favorite old rec room pastime seemed a bit odd.

IGN
One of the reasons I've always liked Rockstar is its unpredictability. Grand Theft Auto III's brilliance was a surprise to everyone. Manhunt appeared out of nowhere. Even Red Dead Revolver was an interesting wrinkle in the fabric of Rockstar's game annals. The Warriors? It's not likely any other publisher fought to get that license. The biggest surprise of the bunch, however, is Table Tennis. To this day, people are still talking about the notion of Rockstar making a ping pong game. Why?

Game Freaks 365
Table Tennis isn't for everyone. Gamers without patience (i.e. myself, until a certain point) should stay far away from this game, because it's simply too technical and too difficult at first. However, those of you who enjoyed games like the Xbox 360's Top Spin 2 or maybe even the PSP's Virtua Tennis: World Tour, you'll most likely find something to enjoy here. Table Tennis makes the best use of virtual ping pong since the iconic Atari hit Pong, and it should be known that Rockstar can make great games that don't involve swatting at people, at least not swatting baseball bats and katanas.

Electronic Gaming Monthly (EGM)
Whether it's Virtua Tennis, Mario Tennis, or even Pong, I just find something soothing about these games' back-and-forth battles. And it's not just me--as I played Table Tennis (can you believe this is from the house that Grand Theft Auto built?) other editors became mesmerized by the sometimes long, methodical rallies.

Game Informer Magazine
With these problems in mind, and the fact that there was no attempt to offer any sort of career mode, this game is an idea that is better said than done.

Gamezine

Even if your family never had one, you at least had a friend down the street who did. That classic downstairs basement, with its musty old couch and hand-me-down television set, boxes of Christmas ornaments and other precious memories lying dormant in the corner, and the holy grail of suburban recreation: the ping-pong table. Tennis for people who could never play tennis.

PlayDevil
In conclusion, "Rockstar Games presents Table Tennis" is an excellent game, but one that can only truly be recommended if you are a gold subscriber to Xbox live. The single player is way too shallow and disappointing to make this worthwhile if you do not or cannot play online. I would also not go so far as to say that this game would warrant the subscription alone, although it is a great deal of fun. If you already have gold, then you are in for a multiplayer gem that is well worth the price charged for admission, but it is a good thing that the game is so cheap; as it is neither good enough nor long enough to warrant £50 spent upon it.

EL33TONLINE
Table Tennis is essentially a bare bones table tennis game that focuses only on the core table tennis game play. This is a fantastic shell for a game, but a greater variety of options would have given the game far more longevity. It is a great pick-up-and-play game for two people looking to challenge each other, although I would argue that the mechanics reward the dedicated gamer far more. The game feels like it’s in the no-mans-land between arcade gaming and serious sports gaming, while not excelling at either of those as much as it could have.
42
The Video Game Critic
The game's one-player tournaments are unreasonably difficult (the CPU gets to everything), and unlockables open much too slowly (great, I won another shirt color). Most of the matches against my friends were terribly one-sided, although that might be attributed to my propensity to suck. There's really nothing wrong with this game. Table Tennis really hasn't been done before in a video game, and this is probably as good as it could be done, so I'll give it the credit it's due. But please, let's not get carried away here.
