Many will be more than willing to put the few gripes aside for a single player experience that features randomized dungeons, continued gameplay after finishing the 20 main storyline, and a high fun factor. Set to cost 1200 Microsoft points upon release, Torchlight is an action/RPG must have in any XBLA gamer’s library.

The gameplay is still fun and addictive as hell and while the frame drops are unfortunate it still looks great and runs well, and Runic have really made an admirable job of handling the transfer of a game like this to a console. For the price, this is definitely a very complete and worthwhile package - even when you consider how cheaply the PC version has been sold in the past! If you have the choice, I would still recommend getting the PC version, as it runs on just about every computer you can find (It has netbook mode, and even a Mac version). However, if you don’t have one, or if you just prefer your gaming couch-based, this is still a great version of a great game.

Given Blizzard's determination to make us wait as long as possible for Diablo III, you may as well sink it into a game that eats time for breakfast.
The Xbox 360 version of Torchlight manages to offer everything that was good about the PC original, as well as introduce a few vital tweaks that make this a must-have title for dungeon crawler fans.
Vivement !

Torchlight is a highly enjoyable action-RPG game that even non RPG fans may find themselves playing it. This is because the hack-n-slash type gameplay offers more freedom for the player and you can attack more frequently than if it used the old turn-based system. Despite the game having no multiplayer and Xbox-like graphics, these minor mishaps do not deter what is a great game. Action-RPG gaming at its finest.
In fact in some ways the pace of the game feels like it's more naturally suited for a controller, despite the few glitches that end up rearing their head. Movement feels smoother with the analogue stick, and that inevitably helps when you're crawling your way through hordes of skeletons. While PC players might miss the standard hot keys they were used to, Torchlight on XBLA is proof that they're by no means necessary. Ten years on from Diablo and it still has enough influence over modern games to power a generation of clones, but both Torchlight and its developer prove to be one the perfect students of the genre.

Torchlight does offer a decent experience that will be enjoyed by Diablo fans but some people may find the game repetitive gameplay and environment wise. Torchlight doesn’t feature any multi-play or co-op, which kind of kills the replay value but it’s supposed to be in Torchlight 2. Torchlight does have plenty to offer in terms of enjoyment and game time and the good does outweigh the bad allowing Torchlight to be as enjoyable on Xbox Live as it was on the PC.
