Whether you're a casual gamer or someone looking for a little action, Toy Soldiers has plenty to accommodate your tastes.
Vandal Online (Mar 17, 2010)
GameSpot (Mar 09, 2010)
Despite its limited multiplayer offering, Toy Soldiers is a great game that you can easily sink a dozen or more hours into without feeling like you've seen everything it has to offer. You might keep playing because you're competing with friends on the online leaderboards for each level or, perhaps, because you want to unlock a Pickelhaube reward for your avatar. Mostly, though, you'll keep coming back to Toy Soldiers because there's plenty of fun to be had with it even after you've beaten every mission and won a multiplayer battle on every map.

Toy Soldiers is a lot of fun - full of freshness and subtlety. It's certainly the best tower defence game on Live, and for my money it's up there with the best games on XBLA in general. 1200 Microsoft Points (around £10) might be pretty weighty for an XBLA title, but there's a depth of quality and enjoyment here which justifies it in spades.

Bottom line, Toy Soldiers is a fun must-have arcade game that players can sit down and play for hours or for about 10 minutes. It’s gauged toward an audience that may be looking for a quick match or who wants to hunker-down for the evening without stressing too much of their grey-matter. As a fan of tower defense games and first person shooters, I found this game to be an absolute delight and aside from the mild frame-rate disturbances this game is solid.
IGN (Mar 01, 2010)
Toy Soldiers is not the best tower defense game on Xbox Live Arcade, but it is an above average and very entertaining entry in the genre. Watching plastic enemy soldiers explode into bits and be launched hundreds of feet into the air as a result of your cannon fire is quite satisfying. Toy Soldiers does a great job balancing its mechanics for both slower-paced strategists and action-hungry shooter fans. The result is an accessible game that might appeal to a wider audience than your usual tower defense affair.
Destructoid (Mar 03, 2010)
Toy Soldiers is a great tower defense game for fans of the genre, and a pretty solid experience even for those who normally don't like such titles. Well worth checking out and could easily provide a day's distraction at the very least, with potential to become addictive for those who just love watching plastic army men burn.
Console Monster (Mar 10, 2010)
Overall, Toy Soldiers is a fantastic effort at making war games more appealing to the masses. The unique style of combining the battlefield with a board game works brilliantly well. Whilst it does suffer from a number of problems (namely the lack of single player game modes), the multiplayer is more than satisfactory. If you enjoy the trial, the full game is a must purchase, even at the 1200 Microsoft Points price tag.
