Worms for Xbox Live Arcade is a follow-up from Worms: Open Warfare, featuring the classical 2D gameplay and smaller weapon set from the first Worms games. This version has enhanced graphics for HD.

Each player has a team of worms that has to battle it out against opponent teams in a destructible terrain, with several wacky weapons at your disposal, similar to artillery games. There is single player, in custom matches or set challenges against computer teams; or multiplayer against up to four players locally or online.

There are three tutorial levels and twenty challenges with three difficulty levels. The completion time of challenges is stored on leaderboards. Several DLC packs were released afterwards with new landscapes and voice banks.
