Xbox Live Arcade Unplugged Volume 1

All of the games contained within Arcade Unplugged Volume 1 are high quality, entertaining games that cover a number of different genres. With the cost value and non-commitment of valuable hard disc real estate, this is a great title to add to your collection.

With six full versioned games for $40, there is definitely some savings to getting these titles all on one disc, if you can get past the quirks of disc loading. For gamers out there who don't have access to the online Marketplace and want to see what all the XBLA hype is about, I highly recommend this collection as almost all titles will keep you busy for some time. But for gamers who've already got one or more of these games thanks to the wonders of the series of tubes that is the internet, this is not worth your hard earned cash as you have the luxury of downloading demos and paying for only the games you want. Highly Recommended to those without high speed internet.

A fun mix of Live Arcade titles, Unplugged Vol. 1 is a great collection, even if its value as a purchase may be a little suspect.

One of the surprisingly addictive and great features of the Xbox 360 has been Xbox Live Arcade, Microsoft's download service that lets you purchase smaller, digitally distributed games direct from your console. A handful of these games have been updated versions of arcade classics, but there are plenty of interesting original games, as well. Unfortunately for those of you without any sort of broadband Internet connection, there hasn't been any other way to get these games.

A compilation of Xbox Live Arcade games! Excellent idea. Just the thing that people who can't get their 360s onto the Internet might need. Although, hang about - two of the games are virtually reliant upon multiplayer, you can't unlock the full versions of the bundled demos without connecting to the Internet (at all), and the free month of Xbox Live Gold access just sort of rubs the lack of connectivity in your unused ethernet port's face.

So overall, a slightly mixed bag. Seeing a well-known coin-op classic like Smash TV or Street Fighter II would've sealed the deal and added to the collection's multiplayer value, but ultimately, there are just better ways to spend $40 on building your Xbox 360 library. The collection itself represents a good group of games (not great), but some of the quality gets cancelled out if your system is sans online play.

Avec seulement 6 jeux proposés en version intégrale, et 3 autres en version d'essai, Arcade Unplugged se présente plutôt comme un produit de luxe à l'intérêt vraiment discutable. Même si la plupart des jeux sont amusants, tous ne vous plairont pas forcément, et il sera sans doute plus intéressant de télécharger uniquement les meilleurs d'entre eux pour qui possède un abonnement au Xbox Live. Les joueurs ne disposant pas de connexion apprécieront peut-être d'avoir accès à ces softs méconnus, mais pour près de 40 euros, c'est cher payé la partie de poker ou de backgammon.
