Zombie Crossing is a tower defense game in which the player has to defend a place from the approaching zombie horde. The way to defeat them is to place turrets on the buildings which surround their way. However, the ultimate goal of each level is to get enough money to buy a nuclear strike or otherwise the waves never stop. Money is dropped by killed zombies and, while some automatically ends up on the player's account, much has to be manually collected by pressing a button.

When the game progresses, more updates become available to unlock, e.g. a cannon (heavy damage) or an obelisk which can hit multiple targets at once. The most important upgrade is available right from the start: sniper mode. When activating it, the player sees the world from the eyes of a turret and can snipe zombies from a first-person perspective. Before each wave, there is a phase when defenses can be built up without a time limit. While the wave is in progress, the time acceleration can be activated.
