You Don't Know Jack Movies

Bottom Line: All the great fun of the famous Jack games with a movie twist. Very smartly done, with tough questions that will make even the brightest film buff think twice. New question types are very entertaining, but the old standbys are still around.

This latest outing, hosted by a new virtual wiseacre named Raoul, plays like a rowdy frat-house version of Jeopardy! With questions ranging from the ridiculous to the ridiculously obscure (What do they put on an ''egg MacGuffin?'' ''A Hitchcock plot device with ham and cheese''), even the geekiest of film geeks can meet his or her match.

Berkeley Systems' latest romp is a movie buff's delight.

Once again, Jellyvision - the spin doctors of trivia - has produced another entertaining game show "where high culture and pop culture collide." Buy the popcorn and Milk Duds and find your seat because the latest addition to the Jack family is taking you to the theater. This time you return to the studio to test your knowledge of meaningless cinema facts in the hopes of winning cash. Don't worry: Answering a question incorrectly still results in the loss of cash and a verbal spanking from the show's obnoxious but entertaining host, Cookie.

You Don't Know Jack Movies is not your typical Trivial Pursuit-type movie trivia game -- don't expect a lot of highbrow questions about films that were all made before you were born. In fact, while playing the game the other day, I answered a question about the movie Meatballs -- definitely not a movie answer you'll see any time soon on "Jeopardy." The game announces itself as "the place where high culture and pop culture collide," and they're right. The questions in the game combine knowledge of topics like children's TV shows, cereal, and commercials with a knowledge of movie critics, silent-film stars, and filming techniques. And the questions don't seem to center on any certain genre or time-period, which means that if you fail miserably in one category, you might be able to make up for it in another. However, you do have to know your stuff in this game, and you have to be able to think quickly.

Overall, You Don't Know Jack is one of the finest multimedia games on the market, and Movies is another worthy addition to the lineup.
