You Don't Know Jack: Volume 4 - The Ride

The Ride is a blast and arguably the best You Don't Know Jack since the original release. Jack is back, and that's very good news, indeed.

Die abgefahrenen Themengebiete sind mit etwas Allgemeinwissen und viel Querdenken gut lösbar, und der Zeitdruck sorgt vor allem mit Freunden vorm Monitor für wohlige Adrenalinschauer. In den neuen Online-Partien funktioniert das hippe Design am besten. Schnell rein, drauflos rätseln und mit anderen Jack-Spielern chatten macht einfach Spaß. Vor allem die Nagel-Funktion birgt enormes Schadenfreude-Potenzial. Wer aber ohne Internet und allein zu Hause spielen will, wird sich schon nach wenigen Runden langweilen, da es keine PC-Gegner gibt.

You Don't Know Jack: The Ride continues the fine tradition of the YDKJ series. The questions are entertaining, although not always as difficult as they should be, and the humor throughout the game is great. This is a great game for when you have some friends over and want to play something a little different than Taboo or whatever. It's also a fun game to play by yourself, although the lack of a few features that I've mentioned keeps it from being more than a four-star game. In any case, fans of the YDKJ series should be quite happy with this latest installment, and if you've never tried these games, The Ride is a great place to start. And as far as ending...well the ending in The Ride is pretty hilarious too.

Jack ist seinem Motto treu geblieben. Witzig wie eh und je, 600 neue Fragen, 2 neue Spielmodi und endlich Online-Unterstützung - ich bin auf jeden Fall zu frieden. Zwar ist You don´t know Jack 4, schon wie die Vorgänger, kein Spiel, das man nächtelang durchzocken kann, aber als Gesellschaftsspiel, mal mit Freunden ein paar Runden "Jack" daddeln, macht es sehr viel Spaß, weshalb sich das Game auch keiner entgehen lassen sollte.

Grafik ist bei Jack 4 kein Thema, dafür werden Sie sich vor Lachen fast in die Hose machen. Wenn neben Ihrer Blase und dem Zwerchfell auch Ihr Hirn beansprucht wird, bekommen Sie in bester Kinderüberraschungs-Manier gleich drei lustige Dinge auf einmal für ihr Geld. Außerdem geht für mich mit dem neuen Teil ein Traum in Erfüllung. Endlich darf ich meine Mitspieler online "nageln".

In the end, this is the first Jack game to provide me with any disappointments at all. While the game is still up to its excellent standards in the way of intelligence and humor, I do not like the question value selection methodology or the fact that you cannot select your own topics. I also miss choosing game length; this new version's "theme" games do not allow it. I still recommend this game, just not quite as highly as the previous versions. If you don't already own them, I'd go for Jack TV or the collected volumes of the older series first. Bottom Line: Still funny, still intelligent. An excellent party game for adults with a sense of humor. Game length is now fixed at 13 questions, and a theme flows through each game. Question value selection is not a good change, and question topics are now chosen for you.
