User review spotlight: Ultima IV: Quest of the Avatar (DOS)
The only thing added to this version are these pop up menus. Here, for instance, you select number of players, access the options menu, the help screen or exit the game.
Before each world starts you get to see this map showing where you are. The clown in the upper right corner marks the last boss.
World 1-1 splash screen. From 1-1 to 1-3 the splash screen is the same, showing in the background where in the map the player is.
World 1-1. Jumping over this bun will make it fall over the cheese slice, making it fall over the meat patty and so on.
Burger done, level beat.
World 1-2. Throwing pepper on enemies paralyze them at first and then kills them.
World 1-3. These huge hot-dog buns take several jumps to fall.
The splash screen for the boss levels always looks like this, with only the main color (in this case, blue) being different.
World 1-4. The first boss is this huge beehive, throwing bees against you.
World 2-1 splash screen. Levels 2-1 to 2-4 take place in the forest.
World 2-1. Dropping a burger part over an enemy kills it, making it part of the recipe.
World 2-2. These hammers pound the platform, making you jump involuntarily.
World 2-3. That cape, taken from the window, makes you invulnerable for one hit.
World 2-4. The second boss battle is divided in two parts. First, you have to destroy this bird nest...
... then mama bird comes to avenge her kids.
World 3-1 splash screen. Levels 3-1 to 3-4 take place in the lake.
World 3-1. Peter Jr. uses a spatula taken from the window.
World 3-2. It is possible to shoot up or down when on a ladder. Here Peter Jr. fires possibly the best weapon in the game, the watering can.
World 3-3. That lighter with the Data East logo throws little flames at you.
World 3-4. The third boss is this fish which will drop bombs at you while crossing the screen horizontally.
World 4-1 splash screen. Levels 4-1 to 4-4 take place at the cloudy mountains surrounding the castle.
World 4-1. Peter Jr. is using the blue (suede?) shoes which make him jump higher.
World 4-2. Peter Jr. uses a spit as a weapon.
World 4-3. That red circle over Peter Jr.'s head shows that an enemy is about to respawn there.
