What the hell would anyone want another Zool for? I mean, when you have got one ultra-fast scrolling, colourful-as-a-very-colourful-thing platform blast, what more could you want? Especially when the first one scored a massive 95 per cent.
Now, back when I gave Zool that huge score, putting it in the stratosphere of the AF scoring range along with a mere handful of other games that got so close to (but still so far away from) the perfect score, some people complained. They questioned my sanity, but the bloke in the white coat who checked me out proved to be even more insane than I was, especially after I showed him Zool).

Besides that, the controls are responsive, and the framerate is smooth, although there is definitely some slowdown at times. I really like this game. It's addictive, fast action, and genuinely fun. You even have the option to play as a female Zool, which changes the dynamics of the game. This is one of the best Jaguar titles.

The zippy, Sonic-like alien returns with a female pal for a terrific second adventure. Fast fun and colorful graphics make this game the best hop-n-bopper on the Jaguar.

AmigaAmiga Power
Zool has finally sold out. No longer can it be claimed that he is to the Amiga what Mario and Sonic are to the Toys’R’Us consoles. That is right, he is appearing at a Sega and Nintendo console near you know. I do not know about you, but quite frankly I do not care what Zool chooses do. He never once said that his relationship with the Amiga was a monogamous one. Good luck to the lad – you have got to take work where you can get it these days. Right kids? Get your name about a bit. Rub shoulders (mandibles, thoraxes) with influential people capable of furthering your career. And once you have managed that, do not think that it is all plain sailing.

I didn't like Zool very much when I first played it on the Amiga. The character was likable but the overly cute bg's had me clamoring for the off button. Zool 2 on the Jag is much improved. Visually, Z2 looks rich and the audio is superb for a cart. If only the frustration factor was lower this would be an incredible title.

Granted, it's a little too colorful and cute to appeal to everyone and it can't escape a certain frustration factor at times, but it's well crafted and achieves it's own modest goals. Not bad at all.

The problem with introducing sequels is that people tend to expect part 2 to be better than the original. I mean, with all the lessons of the last game learnt, you'd think that some improvements should be made to the gameplay, graphics, sound et al. But with a game as good as Zool you've got a pretty tough act to follow. SO you'd be lucky to reach the lofty heights scaled by that top platformer. Unfortunately, Gremlin seem to have fallen well short of that peak.

This game is an Amiga port... or atleast if it isn't, it could be... and while I both own and love Amiga games, I'm getting tired of this particular "Amiga"-style of platform title, in fact, James Pond 2 was about the last title I could stand of this type. The graphics are very brite and crisp, and play control is right on the money. Sound is somewhat annoying, especially after you've played for several hours. If you're dying to get you hands on a platform game for the Jag, sit on them and wait for Rayman.

Ein hübsches, buntes Spielchen, das Fans des
Vorgängers nicht enttäuschen wird. Nur inhaltlich hat sich Gremlin zu wenig Mühe gegeben.

Zool 2 is a fine platform jumper if that's your thing, and would have made a decent Genesis cart a few years ago - but as a Jag game, it only makes you sit there, scratch your head and ask, "Why?"

JaguarElectronic Gaming Monthly (EGM)
This is a plenty good version of the pint-sized ninja character --- enhanced by the addition of the playable female character. As usual, the levels are huge, but at times, are visual overkill. Not a bad game, though.

Zool 2 kept all the good things that the original Zool had: speed, easy control and cartoon-like graphics. There are also some significant improvements that can can make you feel like playing a new game, and not just some superficial sequel. Besides graphical "faceliftings", you may notice more "active objects" and "extras" to collect: health packs, shields, bombs, etc. You can also choose whether you'd like to be a "Zool" or a "Zoolie". It 'features' the same umbrage of Zool 1 - gets boring too fast.

Despite the fact that Zool 2 can be fun to play for a while, I couldn't help but wonder why something more original wasn't released as one of the Jaguar's first platform games.
