ZX Puyo

Moby ID: 65764

Description

ZX Puyo is a variant of the falling block puzzle game Puyo Puyo. Blocks consisting of two tiles fall from the top of the screen and the player has to arrange these so that clusters of four or more tiles of the same sort are created. Once a cluster of tiles has been created it is removed and other tiles fall down in its place. By removing tiles from the board the player scores points and prevents the tiles from reaching the top which means game over. Sometimes garbage blocks fall onto the board and to remove them the player has to create clusters that are adjacent to them.

Since the ZX81 doesn't support colour, the tiles are differed by symbols like asterisks, circles and dollar signs. When clusters begin to be created the tiles change from white to black. Three different difficulties can be chosen before starting a game. Unlike most games in the Puyo Puyo series, this version is for one player only, with no competitive mode.
