Ancient Roman era

Group Description

Games set in the Ancient Roman era, set roughly in the modern-day Italy and the empire it controlled between 8th century B.C. to 476 A.D. Actual size of the empire varies, from being a dominating political force around the city of Rome to it's more vast empire stretching across Europe outwards to modern-day Hispania, Britannia and Syria.

Games included in this group can include city-building simulations, strategic battles overseeing Roman legions, one on one gladiator fights, chariot races, or specific historical battle that happened in relation to the Roman Empire (for example Carthage).

For the purposes of this group, the "Eastern Roman Empire", based on Constantinople, is not included after 476 A.D., being more commonly referred to as the Byzantine Empire.
