User review spotlight: Ultima IV: Quest of the Avatar (DOS)

Interactive Movie

Description

Gameplay consists of a running "movie" with several different storylines that the user can follow by making choices during the viewing, although occasionally an action/arcade sequence may be included. Interactive Movies are best suited for novice gamers looking for entertainment without too much effort.
Examples: Dragon's Lair, Star Trek: Borg, Psychic Detective

In the nineties, the term "interactive movie" was often used to describe any game with real-life action cutscenes, e.g. Under a Killing Moon. Those games do not necessarily belong to this genre.
