Intellivision Lives! 30 Years of Intellivision
Dec 14, 2009 Submitted by DANIEL HAWKS ! (1843)
This year marks the thirtieth anniversary of the Intellivision. Developed by Mattel as direct competition to the Atari 2600, the Intellivision was released in few department stores in Fresno, California in 1979, and was launched globally the following year. The system was launched at a price of $300, and was packed in with Las Vegas Poker & Blackjack. It was the first online console with downloadable games that could be bought through Play Cable. Intellivision went head to head with Atari until the crash of 1983. After the crash, a new company was formed called INTV Corp. to sell the Intellivision and develop new games for it. But the steam eventually ran out, and INTV Corp. closed its doors in 1991. This makes the Intellivision the only console to survive the entire decade of the 1980s. After the closing, Keith Robinson, a former programmer for the Intellivision, founded Intellivision Productions. The new company released many of the old Intellivision games for the PC and modern consoles. Thirty years later, Intellivision still lives on. Happy thirtieth anniversary Intellivision!
You Need 10000 To Be On Top

Qwertyuiop, a MobyGames contributor whose nickname is so easy to type, has scored 10,000 contribution points and also become the new 50th all-time most prolific contributor. Now all the top 50 contributors have 10,000 points or more, which is very impressive, to say the least. I remember the joy of becoming the 25th all-time contributor in 2001, scoring the unbelievable 1,600 points... Two years later, when the ladder was expanded to 50, you could become a top contributor with a mere 900 points...

Also, in related news, Macs Black became the 9th person in MobyGames' history to amass 50,000 points. Even more remarkable is that he achieved this in only two and a half years since joining the site - truly an outstanding feat!
