MobyGames has been getting a lot more traffic lately. Due to the increase in traffic we've notice a bit of a performance lag. Nothing anyone would actually notice, but pages were taking 20ms to render instead of the normal 10ms ( give or take a few milliseconds ). Brian and I decided to take a small downtime in the middle of the day to upgrade the database and turn off Hyper Threading. Hopefully we will be able to squeeze out some more performance. Sorry about the downtime. Also we will be taking MobyGames down this week to add additional hardware. Thanks for you understanding.

I've put out a new release, it's primarily bugfixes and small improvements. The changelog details the changes. We've had some great feedback about the new RSS feeds and I wanted to let everyone know that we have a Game Trivia feed. I have also upgraded the feeds from version 0.91 to version 2.0. Check out the RSS page for feed locations.

MobyGames will be at Classic Gaming Expo 2005 in San Francisco August 20, 21. We had a great time last year and met so many awesome people we are doing it again. Last year was the first year we did the MobyGames screen shot challenge. Jim put together a short video that displayed 35+ screenshots from different platforms and eras of electronic gaming. Anyone who got more than 15 correct won a free MobyGames t-shirt. Everyone who played got free soda and candy. It was such a huge success we are definitely doing it again. Brian is bringing his Lego Space Invaders tribute and we'll definitely have other fun tricks up our sleeves. Unlike most exhibitors MobyGames doesn't really have anything to "sell" so to speak. Instead it is a great way for us to meet the fans and contributors of MobyGames, talk games, give away t-shirts and other stuff and just basically have fun. We would love to see you.
