Description official description

Two of the worlds greatest arcade fighter developers, Capcom and SNK, join forces to finally answer the question asked by many for years: Who is the dominant fighter?

A range of fighters from both worlds are available to choose from, with two different fighting styles (Capcom and SNK, of course) meaning that players of both worlds can fit into the game easily, while new gamers can try Ryu using the SNK format.

The Vs. series just got better.

The Good
As fighters go, this has to be one of the best ever made. Just look at how much detail Capcom has put into the characters and backgrounds. The inclusion of SNK is a nice touch, especially now that Capcom have to cater for two different types of fighting styles. And of course, they do it very well.

The Bad
The fact that I'll never really get into the SNK characters as much as I would like. I've grown up with Street Fighter over the last few years, so it will be hard to try this new style. The same can be said of SNK players who aren't used to Capcom's style. At least the option of the two different styles are there, which helps to keep everyone happy.

The Bottom Line
Street Fighter and King of Fighter fans will enjoy the challenge of finding out which style is the best. And the graphics are worth fighting over, a great achievement for the Dreamcast and for the 2D genre. Very much a winner in a highly crowded circle. Long live 2D.

The true heir to the Street Fighter series

The Good
This game frankly resembles SF3 more than any of the VS games; the only similarity is the Dreamcast-friendly 4-button system. There are lots and lots of characters, and the graphics overall are awesome. Balance is fairly well distributed among the top characters from Capcom and SNK, and there's an innovative team battle system where you select anything from a single powerful character to 4 weak ones.

The Bad
It's got to fit into the Capcom system, so most of the SNK guys lost some moves. It's got 4 buttons, so most of the Capcom guys lost some moves. There's a big graphical disparity (some sprites haven't been updated in years, some are new and much much better-looking). The sound and music are the same old stuff you hear in every fighting game.

The Bottom Line
If you're reading this review, you probably like either Capcom or SNK fighters enough to buy this game simply because you can have Guile beat up Kyo. If you're not used to the Street Fighter system, you'll probably have a hard time learning, but it's rewarding in the end.
