Description official descriptions

Extreme Assault is an arcade shooting game in which the player takes control of two different vehicles: a fictional Sioux AH-23 Attack Helicopter and a T1 assault tank. Using these vehicles the player must fight alien forces who have set up secret operations on Earth.

Players can blast their way through completely 3D environments through various different missions. There's little story, but lots of action. The player can blow up pretty much anything. There's multiple difficulty levels and the player can select between multiple camera angles to behold the carnage.

One of the best FPS shooters for DOS

The Good
Fast, un-accelerated 3d Graphics, Special FX like transparent and interpolated textures (Pentium MMX enhanced), Stereo sound, simple plain fun arcade style shooter.

The Bad
3d graphic cards not really supported, multiplayer mode could be better, missions could be more complex.

The Bottom Line
Extreme Assault is a cool arcade action style FPS shooter with fast un-accelerated 3D Graphics, in my opinion some of the best graphics and special fx for DOS platforms. The stereo sound effects enhance the atmosphere quite a bit and makes sense because you know from which direction an enemy is shooting you by just listening to the stereo sound effects. Soundwise Blue Byte has done a really great job. The missions which have to be cleared are not very sophisticated nor complex and quite straightforward in structure, but that's just good enough for an arcade like shooting game like Extreme Assault. If you are in search of a realistic helicopter or tank simulation, you may want to look at other games on the market. If you are like me though and enjoy a good arcade-style game, you have to get this game. Recommended!
